#ArmLeadsAIStocksWith6%Gain $ARM $NVDA $AMD $AVGO
ARM’s +6% is the headline. The real question is whether AI stocks can turn a bounce into a trend, and the charts give a clear answer on what’s still missing. Here’s the full picture.
1. What happened
On Monday, ARM rose about 6.2% to $223.35, NVDA about 2.4%, AMD about 2.8%, AVGO about 2.3% and MU about 3%, while the semiconductor ETF gained nearly 3% and the Nasdaq rose 0.82%. The catalysts were a major AI lab’s IPO filing reviving enthusiasm, a bullish research note on memory, and reports of a large debt raise to buy AI chips. So this was sentiment, not new earnings.
2. Context: still a bear market
Chipmakers remain in a bear market, with the semiconductor ETF about 25% below its high. That means it needs about +33% to recover (1 ÷ 0.75, my math). ARM is about 51% below its 52-week high of $452.70 and about 123% above its low of $100.02 (my math). A 3% day inside a 25% drawdown is relief, and the size of the hole matters.
3. Why ARM leads
ARM’s one-day move was about 7.5x the Nasdaq’s (6.19 ÷ 0.82, my math), consistent with a reported beta near 3.8. The hardest-hit, richest names tend to snap back first. At a trailing P/E around 230, it’s also the one most exposed to a rate or sentiment reversal. Earnings land November 4, 8 days from now. One report notes that insiders made 26 open-market sales and no purchases in six months (single-source).
4. Valuation rebound or new leg?
A new leg, in my view, needs four things: closes above the short-term averages, breadth beyond a few names, earnings that justify the capex story, and calm rates. Microsoft and Alphabet report Wednesday after the close, Amazon Thursday, and the Fed decides Wednesday.
5. Chart check (levels from my screenshots)
Price Support 14-day 35-day Resistance RSI
ARM 223.34 191.66 (-14.2%) 241.16 (+8.0%) 267.55 (+19.8%) 324.86 (+45.5%) 38.2
NVDA 215.97 207.47 (-3.9%) 221.41 (+2.5%) 223.50 (+3.5%) 242.38 (+12.2%) 44.0
AMD 531.47 493.87 (-7.1%) 565.51 (+6.4%) 572.86 (+7.8%) 672.88 (+26.6%) 42.9
AVGO 329.29 316.44 (-3.9%) 343.64 (+4.4%) 350.51 (+6.4%) 379.07 (+15.1%) 39.7
All four still sit below all three of their averages. NVDA is closest to flipping, just 2.5% below its 14-day. ARM is the farthest, at 8.0%. Reward/risk to the 14-day against support is about 0.6:1 for ARM and NVDA, 0.9:1 for AMD and 1.1:1 for AVGO (my math), so none is a clean setup yet. RSI sits between 38 and 44, so these are bounces from weak readings, not strength.
6. Scenarios
Closes above the 14-day averages (NVDA 221.41 first): the bounce is turning into a trend attempt.
Fails at the averages after Wednesday’s earnings: this was a relief rally inside a bear market.
Closes below support (NVDA 207.47, ARM 191.66): the rebound is over.
My take: I’d call this a valuation rebound until the stocks close above their averages. NVDA is the tell, because it has the smallest gap to clear. ARM is the highest-beta way to express the same mood, and it carries earnings in 8 days. I’m not chasing a 6% day.
Not financial advice.
Do you see this as a rebound inside a bear market or the start of a new AI leg? And which has the cleanest setup in your view: NVDA or AVGO?
