In my view, the most critical aspect of Bitcoin’s struggle at the $80,000 level is not whether the price can climb above it, but whether it can sustain its position above this mark.
While the bulls aim to reclaim this zone and turn it into support, the bears may look to keep the price below it, potentially pushing for a retest of lower support levels. However, mere fluctuations around the $80,000 mark do not, in themselves, constitute a signal to buy or go short.
Three potential strategies:
1. Buying the dip
This can be considered if the price holds within the support zone, selling pressure wanes, and buyers regain strength. If the support level breaks, the decline could deepen; therefore, entering in stages and establishing a predefined risk limit is essential.
2. Going short
This may be an option if the price attempts to break above $80,000 but faces rejection, forms lower highs, and sees an increase in selling volume. A sudden upward breakout, however, could result in losses for short positions.
3. Waiting (My preferred, cautious approach)
If the price moves indecisively on either side of the $80,000 level, it is logical to refrain from opening a position until there is confirmation of a clear direction. Missing an opportunity is better than risking capital on an uncertain trade.
October 26, 2026: Levels to watch for BTC
According to current technical analysis, BTC is hovering around the $80,000 mark, with a mixed short-term outlook. Initial resistance zone
$80,900–$81,200
Initial support zone
$79,400–$79,900
Zone to watch if support is broken
$78,100–$78,900
My approach: Wait for now. Sustained price action above $81,000, accompanied by an increase in volume, could strengthen the bullish scenario. Conversely, a breakdown below the support level around $79,400 could increase the risk of testing lower levels. Rather than opening aggressive long or short positions before these confirmations, I would prefer to focus on capital preservation.
Trading Plan Based on Current Data
As of October 26, 2026, market data shows BTC fluctuating within the $79,500–$80,500 range. While the short-term 4-hour outlook appears weak, daily indicators present a more mixed picture; therefore, for any existing long position, the priority should be managing downside risk rather than making new purchases.
1. Support and Resistance Map
Technical data as of October 26, 2026; levels may vary depending on the exchange and time frame.
Upper Target 2: $82,500–$82,600 – Strong recovery zone
Upper Target 1: $81,200–$81,400 – First major resistance
Intermediate Resistance: $80,600–$80,900 – Confirmation of an upward breakout
Psychological Level: $80,000 – Threshold between bulls and bears
Initial Support: $79,400–$79,500 – Critical short-term support
Lower Support: $78,100–$78,200 – Level to watch if support is broken
Deeper Support: $75,000–$75,600 – Scenario for a broader correction
2. Three Scenarios for Your Existing Long Position
Bullish
Holding above $80,900
A 15-minute candle closing above this level, followed by the level holding during a pullback, would be a positive signal. The $81,200–$81,400 range serves as the initial target, with the area around $82,500 acting as the next potential resistance. Sideways (Range-bound)
$79,400–$80,900 range
If the price becomes confined within this zone, avoid opening unnecessary trades. If you hold an existing leveraged long position, be sure to check your position size and liquidation risk.
Bearish (Downside)
Close below $79,400
If a 15-minute candle closes below this level accompanied by an increase in selling volume, the $78,100–$78,200 zone may come into play. This serves as a warning to re-evaluate the risk of your long position; it does not automatically imply that you should open a short position.
3. Stop-loss and risk/reward calculation
For a long position, it is more prudent to set your stop-loss level based on the point at which your trading thesis is invalidated, rather than simply choosing a round number.
The example below assumes a hypothetical long entry at $80,000; this does not reflect your actual entry price.
Trading Plan Price Relative to $80,000
Hypothetical Entry $80,000 —
Stop-loss $79,300 −0.875%
Target 1 $81,400 +1.75%
Target 2 $82,100 +2.625%
* Risk/reward ratio to Target 1: 1:2
* Risk/reward ratio to Target 2: 1:3
