#WCTCS9 #ShareWeekly Bitcoin is trading around $80,324 after a weekend flush to $79,146 on Saturday, its first dip under $80K since October 15. The bounce was quick, but the structure underneath is still fragile. I am treating this week as a "confirm first, act second" setup. Every move tells a story, and mine starts with reading the map before choosing the road.
🎯The $80K–$81.5K cost-basis band
Glassnode places the cost basis for ETF holders and treasury companies between $80,000 and $81,500. That is why $80K matters beyond being a round number. Below it, many buyers sit at a loss and tend to sell into bounces to get back to breakeven. Above it, they hold and the floor strengthens. Price is inside the band right now, which makes it a neutral zone, not a bullish one. A daily close above $81,500 (+1.5% from here) would be my first sign the band has flipped back into support.
📊Momentum is weak, not washed out
Daily RSI is near 44 and the MACD histogram is still negative. Sellers still have the upper hand, but the market has not reached the oversold extremes that usually mark a true bottom. The drop can extend without looking stretched, and there is no capitulation to trade against either. When momentum is neither hot nor cold, patience is the edge.
🧱 My key levels from $80,324
Resistance
• $81,500 (+1.5%): top of the cost-basis band
• $82,000 (+2.1%): first major ceiling
• $82,500 (+2.7%): the floor lost last Thursday, and the real repair signal
• $86,000 (+7.1%): upper target if bulls take control
Support
• $79,146 (-1.5%): weekend low
• $79,000 (-1.6%): the line I care about most
• $78,000 (-2.9%): next support flagged by QCP Capital
• $76,000 (-5.4%): lower edge of the downside range analysts are watching
⚠️ Why Bitcoin dropped: leverage, flows and macro
1. Leverage: over $810M was liquidated in 24 hours, mostly longs. Crowded positions got flushed.
2. ETF flows: about $773M left US spot ETFs in two days, after more than $1B of inflows earlier in the week.
3. Macro: Brent crude near $114 keeps inflation fears alive, tech stocks wobbled, and Middle East tension added a risk-off tone.
BTC is trading like a high-beta risk asset, so oil and equities matter almost as much as the BTC chart.
🗓️ The calendar is the catalyst
The Fed meets October 27–28. A hold is widely expected, so the tone of the statement matters more than the rate. Big tech earnings and the US midterms on November 3 add more event risk. Price often moves on the headline first and shows its real trend later, which is why I do not want to be over-leveraged into the announcement.
🔭 Three scenarios I am watching
🟢 Recovery: BTC closes above $81,500, then $82,500. The dip becomes a shakeout and $86,000 comes back into view.
🟡 Range: price chops between $79,000 and $82,000 while the market waits for the Fed. Boring, but common.
🔴 Breakdown: a daily close under $79,000 opens $78,000 and possibly $76,000, with another wave of long liquidations.
For perspective, BTC is still about 36% below its all-time high of $126,080. Even the bullish case is a recovery story, not a new-high story.
🛡️ My game plan: stick to the plan, adjust the size
1. Keep leverage low until the Fed decision is out.
2. Treat a daily close below $79,000 as my line in the sand.
3. Do not chase green candles below $82,500.
4. Scale in with small entries instead of one big order.
5. Decide your invalidation level before you enter, not after.
6. Check ETF flows and liquidation data each morning, since they have been the best real-time read on sentiment.
A floor that has been tested is not a wall, it is a negotiation. Sooner or later buyers or sellers stop showing up, so decide in advance which one you will believe, and let the chart confirm it. @Gate_Square
