#USEarningsSeason #ShareWeekly
Microsoft stands out as my top pick this U.S. Earnings Season window of October 26 to 30. With the Federal Reserve decision, Big Tech earnings reports, and key US GDP and PCE data all landing in the same stretch, the market is set for significant volatility and opportunity. Among the names in focus — $MSFT $GOOGL $AMZN $HOOD $COIN — I am most constructive on Microsoft.

Current levels show MSFT closed at $524.51 on October 23, 2026, rising 0.66 percent on the day after opening near $517.75. The session range ran from a low of $515.70 to a high of $525.77. Volume registered approximately 13.68 million shares, below the recent 10-day average near 20 million and the 30-day average around 21.4 million shares. Even at that volume the absolute dollar turnover remained substantial. Market capitalization sits near $3.90 trillion. The 52-week range stretches from $349.20 to $553.72, placing the shares roughly 5 percent below the yearly high while still up about 9 percent year-to-date and roughly 1.6 percent over the trailing twelve months. Three-month performance has been particularly strong at approximately plus 37.7 percent, reflecting renewed confidence in the AI and cloud trajectory after earlier consolidation.

Trailing-twelve-month revenue stands at $331.84 billion, with net income of $133.75 billion and diluted EPS of $17.95. The trailing P/E ratio is approximately 29.2. Microsoft is scheduled to report fiscal first-quarter 2027 results after the close on October 28, 2026. Consensus currently looks for revenue near $90.6 billion to $90.8 billion, representing year-over-year growth of roughly 16 to 17 percent, and adjusted EPS around $4.71, up about 14 percent from the year-ago period. Management has guided total company revenue in a range of $89.85 billion to $90.95 billion. Intelligent Cloud is expected between $40.95 billion and $41.25 billion, with Azure and other cloud services growth guided near 45 percent in constant currency — an acceleration from the prior quarter’s 43 percent. Productivity and Business Processes is guided at $36.7 billion to $37.0 billion, while More Personal Computing is projected between $12.2 billion and $12.7 billion.

Azure has been the primary growth engine. In the most recent reported periods Azure growth has consistently run in the high 30s to low 40s percent range, with the latest guidance pointing toward mid-40s percent. Microsoft Cloud revenue has expanded at rates of 25 to 29 percent in recent quarters, and commercial remaining performance obligation continues to climb, providing multi-quarter visibility. Capital expenditure guidance for the current quarter sits above $50 billion as the company continues to expand AI infrastructure capacity. Despite the elevated spending, management has reiterated expectations of positive free cash flow for the full fiscal year, supported by strong operating cash generation that exceeded $180 billion in the prior fiscal year.

Liquidity remains excellent. Average daily volume in the high teens to low twenties of millions of shares, combined with a free float of more than 7.4 billion shares and typically tight spreads, allows institutional-sized flows to transact with limited market impact on most sessions. Short interest remains modest relative to the float. Beta near 1.0 to 1.1 indicates lower volatility than many high-growth peers, which can be an advantage during periods of macroeconomic uncertainty around the Fed decision and GDP/PCE releases.

On the broader question of whether AI investments can drive lasting growth, Microsoft offers one of the clearest commercializations paths. Azure serves as both the infrastructure layer and the distribution channel for Copilot and other AI-powered productivity tools. Enterprise customers are already embedding these capabilities into daily workflows across Microsoft 365, Dynamics, and security products. The combination of recurring cloud revenue, high incremental margins on software and services, and expanding AI attach rates creates a flywheel that is more diversified than pure semiconductor or pure advertising models. Gross margins on the cloud business have remained in the high 60s percent range even as the mix of AI training and inference workloads has risen, demonstrating operational leverage.

Earnings beats do not guarantee immediate price appreciation in every case, yet Microsoft’s track record shows that confirmation of durable Azure growth and stable or expanding margins has historically been rewarded over subsequent weeks and months. When guidance on cloud growth or commercial bookings has exceeded expectations, the shares have often re-rated higher. Conversely, periods of elevated capital expenditure without matching near-term revenue acceleration have produced temporary multiple compression. The current setup — with Azure guided at approximately 45 percent growth and overall revenue growth still in the mid-teens — appears supportive of continued constructive positioning provided the actual results and commentary align with or exceed the current framework.

Relative to the other names highlighted this week, Microsoft combines scale, profitability, and AI exposure in a balanced package. Alphabet and Amazon also benefit from cloud and AI tailwinds but carry different competitive and regulatory profiles. Robinhood and Coinbase remain more sensitive to retail trading volumes and cryptocurrency market sentiment, which can diverge from the broader technology earnings cycle. Microsoft’s wide economic moat, recurring revenue base, and balance-sheet strength provide a more defensive growth profile during a week that also features the Federal Reserve decision and US GDP/PCE data.

Risks are present and should be monitored. Further increases in capital expenditure could pressure free cash flow if demand softens. Competitive intensity in cloud and AI remains high. Valuation at roughly 29 times trailing earnings leaves limited room for disappointment. Macro uncertainty around interest rates and consumer spending could affect enterprise IT budgets. None of these factors currently outweigh the structural advantages in my view, but they argue for disciplined position sizing.

Overall, the combination of solid current trading levels near $524 to $525, strong multi-month price performance, mid-teens overall revenue growth, mid-40s percent Azure growth guidance, robust liquidity, and a diversified AI monetization strategy makes Microsoft my preferred name for this earnings window. The Fed decision, GDP, and PCE data will set the macro tone, yet company-specific execution on cloud and AI remains the primary driver for $MSFT. I look forward to seeing how the October 28 report lands and how the market digests the full set of Big Tech results alongside the macroeconomic releases.
