#Gate广场万圣节 #WCTCS9 Bitcoin enters a decisive week after a weekend sell-off exposed how quickly market confidence can change when liquidity thins and leveraged positions become crowded. BTC fell to $79,146 on Saturday, its lowest level in more than a month, before recovering to around $80,800 on Sunday. The rebound brought buyers back into the picture, but it has not yet confirmed a lasting recovery.

The question now is whether Bitcoin can rebuild momentum above $80,000 or whether macroeconomic uncertainty will trigger another wave of selling.

The weekend liquidation shock tells an important story. More than $436 million in positions were liquidated within four hours, including approximately $402 million in long positions. Over 24 hours, total liquidations reached roughly $815 million, representing a sharp increase from the previous day. Bitcoin and Ethereum accounted for substantial portions of the forced unwinding, while more than 200,000 traders were reportedly affected.

Long positions represented approximately 92% of the four-hour liquidation total. That imbalance suggests bullish positioning had become vulnerable. When price moved lower, leveraged traders were forced out, adding selling pressure to an already fragile market.

For me, this is a reminder that market direction and market positioning are two different things. A trader can be correct about the broader trend and still lose money by entering with excessive leverage at the wrong time.

The ETF picture adds another layer to Bitcoin’s uncertainty. Spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted more than $1 billion during the first three sessions of the previous week, but Thursday and Friday brought approximately $773 million in combined outflows. Despite that reversal, the week still ended with around $301 million in net inflows. Spot Ethereum ETFs, meanwhile, recorded approximately $221 million in weekly net outflows.

The takeaway is not that institutional demand has disappeared. Instead, flows show that investor conviction can change quickly as macroeconomic risks increase. I would watch whether Bitcoin ETFs return to consistent inflows or whether withdrawals continue to limit recovery attempts.

Now comes the most important price battle.

Bitcoin’s $80,000 area has become a psychological level as well as a key market reference. Glassnode placed the average holder cost basis near $80,200, making a sustained move below $80,000 particularly important for market sentiment.

Using $80,800 as the reference price, BTC sits approximately 1% above $80,000, 2.1% below $82,500, and 3.8% below $84,000.

Here is how I would interpret those levels:

If BTC holds $80,000 and reclaims $82,500, buyers could gain room to challenge $84,000. A sustained breakout above that resistance would strengthen the recovery case.

If Bitcoin remains trapped between $80,000 and $82,500, I would expect a choppy market in which short-term moves can reverse quickly.

If BTC loses $80,000 on a convincing daily close, the $79,000 region becomes the next immediate area to watch. A decisive breakdown could expose lower support zones in the mid-$70,000s, although that outcome would depend on selling pressure and liquidity conditions.

On-chain data has also indicated signs of renewed whale accumulation. That is worth monitoring, but accumulation alone does not guarantee a rally. Buyers must absorb available selling pressure before accumulation can translate into sustained price appreciation.

The Federal Reserve is the next major catalyst. The October 27–28 meeting is expected to keep markets focused on the policy decision and, perhaps more importantly, the language surrounding inflation and future rate cuts.

An unchanged rate would not automatically be bullish for crypto. If policymakers emphasize persistent inflation or the risk posed by elevated energy prices, markets could interpret the outcome as a hawkish hold. Conversely, a balanced message that leaves room for future easing could support risk assets.

Oil is particularly important because higher energy prices can feed inflation and restrict the Fed’s flexibility. That creates a connection between geopolitical headlines, monetary policy, and Bitcoin’s short-term direction. The weekend’s reports about reduced staffing at several US embassies in the Middle East added to uncertainty while traditional markets were closed.

US equities are another force to watch. The Nasdaq’s second consecutive weekly decline has raised questions about technology valuations and whether heavy AI investment will deliver sufficient returns. Earnings from Microsoft, Alphabet, and Amazon could influence broader risk appetite. If technology stocks come under additional pressure, crypto may struggle to sustain a recovery.

Developments surrounding Russia and Ukraine offer a possible but uncertain counterweight. Reports of progress toward localized ceasefire and humanitarian arrangements could improve sentiment, but limited agreements should not be confused with a comprehensive resolution.

The November 3 US midterm elections add another event to an already crowded calendar. Between the Fed, major technology earnings, geopolitical developments, and shifting ETF flows, the next few weeks could produce sharp changes in sentiment.

My plan is to focus on three scenarios rather than predict one outcome in advance.

A relief rally becomes more convincing if the Fed delivers a balanced message, energy prices ease, and BTC reclaims $82,500 before challenging $84,000.

A range-bound market remains possible if macroeconomic signals are mixed and Bitcoin continues moving between $79,000 and $82,500.

A renewed sell-off becomes more likely if the Fed sounds more hawkish than expected, ETF outflows accelerate, or BTC decisively loses $79,000.

WCTC S9 also begins its trading window on October 26 at 08:00 UTC, according to the previously announced schedule. A volatile market can create opportunities, but it can also punish rushed decisions. I would define invalidation levels, keep position sizes controlled, and avoid excessive leverage rather than chase every fast move.

Bitcoin’s next turning point will not be determined by one headline alone. Price structure, institutional flows, macroeconomic expectations, and market positioning will all matter. For now, $80,000 is the level I want to see defended, while $82,500 and $84,000 are the recovery milestones that could change the short-term picture.
