BTC Price Prediction: Key Support and Resistance Levels Ahead of the Fed Meeting

October 22, 2026 | BTC/USDT Technical Analysis

Bitcoin is trading around $82,732, consolidating within the $79,800–$84,900 range after three failed attempts to break above the $87,000–$87,400 resistance zone.

Market Structure and Key Levels

Bitcoin's major resistance lies between $87,000 and $87,400, where a triple-top formation has developed. The immediate resistance is at $84,900, and a decisive breakout above this level could open the door to another attempt at $87,200.

On the downside, the preferred buying zone is $80,400–$81,850. This area combines the 50-day moving average at $81,849 with the 0.236 Fibonacci retracement near $80,400, making it an important potential support zone.

The critical range support sits around $79,800. If Bitcoin breaks below this level decisively, the next major downside reference is approximately $76,100, corresponding to the 0.382 Fibonacci retracement.

Technical Indicators

Bitcoin's RSI(14) stands at 51.6, indicating neutral momentum. The price is below the 20-day moving average at $83,149 but remains above the 50-day moving average at $81,849 and the 200-day moving average at $72,842.

This structure suggests that Bitcoin is consolidating within its broader uptrend, although a sustained move above resistance is needed to strengthen the bullish outlook.

Trading Strategy

The preferred approach is to wait for a pullback into the $80,400–$81,850 zone and look for confirmation that buyers are defending support.

The proposed stop-loss is below $79,700, with an initial target of $84,900 and a second target near $87,200. From an approximate entry of $81,100, these targets offer potential reward-to-risk ratios of around 2.7:1 and 4.4:1, respectively, before fees and slippage.

Alternatively, a daily close above $84,900 accompanied by strong trading volume could provide a breakout opportunity. In that scenario, a successful retest of $84,900 as support would be preferable to chasing the initial move.

Fed Meeting: The Major Risk Event

The Federal Reserve meeting scheduled for October 27–28 could significantly influence Bitcoin's next move. A hawkish surprise may increase selling pressure and expose the $79,800 support level, potentially bringing $76,100 into focus. A more dovish outcome could support a move toward $84,900 and eventually the $87,000–$87,400 resistance zone.

Final Outlook

Bitcoin remains in consolidation, with momentum near neutral. Rather than entering at the current mid-range price, patience may offer a better risk-to-reward opportunity near support or after a confirmed breakout.

The key levels to watch are $84,900 on the upside and $79,800 on the downside. Confirmation matters more than prediction, particularly ahead of a major macroeconomic event.

BTC is still consolidating. Price reaction at support $79,800 and resistance $84,900 will determine the next direction, especially ahead of the Fed's decision.
