#SpaceXMarketCapSurpassesTSMC $SPCX $TSM
“SpaceX passes TSMC” was true for a few hours and by about 0.45% (my math). The more useful signal is how the day finished. Here’s my read.
1. The same-day arc
SPCX peaked near $165.64 (+12.1%), was at $163.39 (+10.56%) when the market-cap headline printed, then closed at $159.31 (+7.79%). After hours it slipped another $2.61, and my chart shows 156.57. Against the $147.79 prior close, that’s +5.9% now versus a peak of +12.1%, so the stock has kept about 49% of its best gain (my math).
2. The crossover math (my math)
At $163.39, the quoted $2.22T implies about 13.6B shares. TSMC was quoted at $2.21T, so SpaceX led by roughly 0.45%. At the $159.31 close, SpaceX is about $2.16T, around 2% behind. To tie TSMC at its quoted value, SPCX would need about $162.7, roughly 3.9% above my chart price. A rank decided by 0.45% isn’t a signal.
3. What the print said, and what it didn’t
The headline was AI revenue. One report says Starlink consumer subscribers came in at 13.6M against the 14.3M consensus, about 4.9% light (single-source, my math). Musk also floated annual recurring revenue of up to $1T by the end of 2027. Against Q3’s $14.6B annualized to about $58B, that would be about 17x (my math). It’s a projection, not guidance, and I’d file it as ambition.
4. The round trip
The IPO priced near $135, the stock peaked at $225.64 the week after listing, and it bottomed at $104.83 on August 3. At 156.57, it’s about 31% below the peak and 49% above the low (my math). The first-day close was $161, so the stock is still slightly under where it first closed.
5. Chart check (levels from my screenshot)
Price is 156.57
14-day at 158.66: +1.3%
21-day at 155.71 and 35-day at 153.46: price is above both
Resistance at 172.23: +10.0%
Support at 139.99: -10.6%
RSI is 53.0, and the MACD histogram is -0.91 (MACD 1.34 versus signal 2.24)
TSM sits at 426.37, 4.3% above its support at 407.92, with RSI 42.9 and price below its averages. SpaceX is in the middle of its average cluster, so the post-earnings move is now a coin flip around the averages.
6. Scenarios
Hold the 153–156 averages and reclaim 158.7: the earnings gap holds, and 172 becomes the next target.
Lose the 21-day and 35-day: the gap is fully faded and 140 comes into view.
Chop between 153 and 159: the base case until the next catalyst.
My take: a quarterly profit and a huge revenue number deserve respect, but the fade from 165 to 156 tells me buyers were less eager at a $2.2T valuation than the headline suggested. I’m treating the 153–156 zone as the line and not chasing the market-cap race.
Not financial advice.
Do you read the intraday fade as normal post-earnings profit-taking or as a ceiling at this valuation? And which matters more to you: the $1T recurring-revenue ambition or the Starlink subscriber miss?
