#UnitreeTechSurges18% #每周来晒 #WCTCS9 Unitree's second 10% day: the anatomy of a bounce, in four layers
Unitree Robotics did it again. After Monday's 16.15% jump, the stock rose more than 10% intraday on Tuesday, October 20. A bounce like this has several layers, and each one tells a different story, so I took them apart one at a time.
Layer one: the price
Start with the exact figures. Unitree closed Monday at 495.92 yuan per share, lifting its market value to 200.58 billion yuan, about $28.1 billion. That followed a post-listing low of 404.03 yuan on October 15, more than 60% below its first-day opening price. By my math, Monday's close was about 22.7% above that low. On Tuesday, shares rose more than 10% intraday, and the report stresses this was a trading-session reading, not a closing return. If a 10% gain had held from Monday's close, the price would be near 545 yuan and the market value near 220 billion yuan. That is an illustration, so check the actual close.
Layer two: the money flow
Turnover topped 2.6 billion yuan on Tuesday, against more than 1.5 billion yuan at a similar point on Monday. The source warns that these readings were taken at different times of day, so they do not show how full-day activity compared. What they do show is heavy participation on two straight days. For context, Monday's Dragon and Tiger list showed buyers and sellers fighting over the stock, a sign of conviction on both sides.
Layer three: the sector
This is not a one-stock story. On Monday, with more than 3,100 individual A-shares declining, the humanoid robot concept bucked the market and became the day's most concentrated bullish theme. On Tuesday, Hong Kong-listed robotics names followed, with Geekplus up more than 5% in early trading and UBTech up 7.51%, while Dobot also advanced. When a theme rises on a weak market, it usually means money is rotating into it, not simply drifting up with everything else.
Layer four: the fundamentals
This layer needs more care. Unitree shipped more than 5,500 humanoid robots to end customers in 2025, excluding unfulfilled orders, with production above 6,500 units. Its 2025 revenue was about 1.7 billion yuan, against a 200 billion yuan market value, which works out to roughly 118 times last year's revenue by my arithmetic. That multiple explains why one policy headline can move the stock by double digits in a day, and why it can reverse just as fast. Omdia estimates Unitree and AgiBot each shipped more than 5,000 of roughly 15,000 humanoids shipped globally last year, so the leadership claim has support.
The long view: a round trip so far
Unitree priced its IPO at 150.80 yuan and rose as much as 629% on its first day, and began trading on August 19 under the ticker 688836. Against the IPO price, 495.92 is about 229% higher. Against the debut-day close near 845 yuan, it is about 41% lower. The stock has lived through a boom, a halving and a sharp rebound in two months.
The next test
The catalyst on the calendar is the company's third-quarter report on October 29, its first earnings release since listing. Revenue growth, margins and order visibility will matter more than policy headlines, since the 118 times sales multiple needs numbers to support it.
A safety note
Access matters. Shares on the STAR Market are exclusive to mainland Chinese investors, so investors in other territories currently cannot buy them directly. If someone offers Unitree exposure outside the official market, confirm exactly what the product is and who issues it before sending any money. Pre-listing offers were already a known trap before the stock got a ticker.
Scenarios
Constructive: Q3 results confirm fast revenue growth, and the stock holds above the 495 to 545 yuan area with sector breadth intact.
Neutral: results land in line, and the stock trades inside the post-listing range between about 404 and 545 yuan.
Cautious: slower orders or weaker margins push the price back toward the 404 yuan low, since sentiment has changed quickly in this stock.
The cross-market link
Risk appetite is improving across assets. BTC is near $83,008, SpaceX posted a blowout quarter, and Tesla reports tonight. Robotics and AI themes are drawing the kind of speculative capital that also moves crypto, which makes the Unitree tape a useful risk-appetite gauge.
How I will handle it
I will watch whether robotics breadth stays positive on days when the broader market is weak, treat policy headlines as catalysts that can fade, and avoid chasing intraday spikes before October 29.
Share your view below: is this the start of a durable robotics trend, or a policy-driven bounce.
This post is for discussion only and is not investment advice. Equity themes can reverse quickly, so manage your risk.
Unitree Robotics rose as much as 18% on Monday, October 19, in Shanghai. The number is eye-catching, but the story makes more sense as a timeline, so here is the path from debut to today and what the latest move says about the humanoid robot theme.
August 19: the debut
Unitree listed on Shanghai's STAR Market as the first humanoid robot maker to go public on a mainland exchange. The stock was priced at 150.8 yuan and closed its first day at 845 yuan, up 460%, valuing the company at about $50 billion. Nearly 9.8 million valid retail accounts applied for the IPO, the highest participation recorded for a public offering since the STAR Market launched.
The fade
The after-party did not last. Shares nearly halved within weeks of the debut, and the listing still looked expensive against sales. By October 15, the stock closed at 405.10 yuan, a market value of 163.849 billion yuan and the lowest level in two months since listing. By my math, that was about 52% below the debut close of 845 yuan.
October 19: the catalyst day
Two policy catalysts arrived together. China's Ministry of Commerce and eight other departments issued a joint opinion on technology-driven commerce, calling for a higher application level of embodied AI in home services and trade logistics. Separately, the first batch of six national standards for humanoid robots will take effect on April 1 next year.
The stock responded. Shares surged 16.15%, the biggest single-day gain since the debut day, with market value topping 200 billion yuan. Intraday, the move widened to about 18%, with the price near 504 yuan. Working back from that figure, I estimate the close near 496 yuan.
The numbers after the bounce
At roughly 496 yuan, Unitree is about 229% above its IPO price of 150.8 yuan, about 41% below the debut close, and about 22% above the October 15 low. That is a large rebound, but still well inside the post-debut range.
Who was buying
The trading data shows a real contest. On the Dragon and Tiger list, three brokerage seats bought a combined 164 million yuan of Unitree, while two seats, including a Goldman Sachs branch, sold 93 million yuan. The net is about 71 million yuan of buying by my calculation. Both sides were active, which suggests conviction on each side.
It was not only Unitree
Breadth was strong. In Sina's humanoid robot concept, 68.3% of the 458 stocks other than Unitree rose, and turnover was 180.47 billion yuan, 12.56% of the day's total and 6.3% higher than Friday, even as the overall market traded 7.59% less. Robot stocks drew more attention on a day when the broader market cooled. That is a theme rally, not a single-stock squeeze.
Why fundamentals matter now
The theme needs numbers behind it. Unitree reported cumulative production of about 18,000 bipedal humanoids as of July, according to media reports. Its prospectus showed more than 5,500 humanoids shipped in 2025, a 32.4% global share. And Omdia estimates Unitree and AgiBot together accounted for more than 70% of the roughly 13,000 humanoids shipped globally last year.
The valuation question remains. One analysis from the weeks after the debut found a market cap about 147 times annualized sales at that point. That figure is from late August, so it is stale after the price move, but it explains why investors want proof.
The next test: October 29
Unitree is scheduled to release its third-quarter results on October 29, its first earnings report since going public. I see this as the key event. Revenue growth, margins and order visibility will matter more than policy headlines.
My scenarios
Constructive: the earnings confirm rapid revenue growth and improving margins, and the stock holds above the 470 to 500 yuan area with sector breadth intact.
Neutral: results are in line, and the stock trades with the theme, between the October 15 low and the recent high.
Cautious: weak margins or slowing orders send the stock back toward the 405 yuan low, since sentiment has been reversing quickly.
A safety note
STAR Market shares are not directly tradable for most non-Chinese retail investors. If someone offers Unitree exposure outside the official market, confirm exactly what the product is, who issues it and how it tracks the stock before taking part.
How I would handle it
I would watch breadth as much as price. If more than half of humanoid stocks keep rising on Tuesday, the theme has momentum. I would size small ahead of October 29, avoid chasing intraday spikes, and treat policy headlines as catalysts that can fade.
The broader link
Asian technology is searching for a new leader after a heavy AI-chip sell-off. A move like this shows capital rotating toward the robotics story, which is useful for traders watching risk appetite across markets, including crypto. @Gate_Square
