As we begin the new week, keeping a finger on the pulse of the markets—and avoiding hasty decisions—is one of the most prudent approaches in an environment defined by uncertainty. While Bitcoin’s return to the $82,000 range and signs of a recovery in Ethereum are encouraging, the persistent pressure on Asian technology stocks raises questions about whether this recovery is truly sustainable. So, what does this landscape suggest for the roadmap to follow this week?

Bitcoin’s critical test at the resistance zone

After testing support in the $80,600–$80,800 range over the weekend, Bitcoin rebounded to the $82,400–$82,500 level. The key question now is whether the price can break through the short-term resistance—situated between $82,500 and $83,000—with significant trading volume. Analysts note that as long as the price remains above $82,000, the recovery attempt remains valid; otherwise, a pullback toward the $81,900–$82,000 support level could be on the cards. At this juncture, it is not enough for the price to simply cross a level; it must also hold above it and secure confirmation from buyers.

Cooling institutional demand and capital flows

Despite the recovery in price, signals from the institutional side warrant caution. Last week, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs saw a total net outflow of $228.6 million, marking the second consecutive week of outflows. Net inflows, which stood at around $293 million at the beginning of October, have shifted to a net outflow exceeding $615 million by the middle of the month. This highlights how sensitive the risk appetite of institutional investors is to short-term data and macroeconomic developments. It should be noted, however, that these outflows represent only a small percentage of total assets and should not be interpreted as an institutional exodus.

The impact of pressure on tech stocks on the crypto market

Weakness in Asian technology stocks remains a significant, albeit indirect, risk factor for the crypto market. In particular, a sell-off in semiconductor stocks is dampening the overall appetite for risk assets. Sharp declines in U.S. tech stocks, coupled with growing questions regarding the returns on artificial intelligence investments, are driving capital toward "safe-haven" assets. Because the crypto market is closely linked to risk appetite for technology, this weakness exerts pressure on Bitcoin and Ethereum. The steep decline seen over the weekend, followed by a subsequent recovery, illustrates the significant impact of these external pressures.

Fed uncertainty and the macroeconomic calendar

Another reason the market is struggling to find direction is the uncertainty surrounding the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy. While inflation data coming in above expectations has raised the possibility of an interest rate hike in October, the prevailing market expectation is that the Fed will keep rates unchanged. The FOMC meeting is scheduled for October 27–28, and data released leading up to this meeting will likely provide a clearer signal regarding the future path of interest rates. As long as macro uncertainty persists, risky assets are likely to fluctuate within narrow ranges without establishing a clear trend.

Strategy for the new week: Patience and confirmation

Given this landscape, the most prudent strategy for the coming week is to remain patient—avoiding panic or hasty decisions—and wait for the market to confirm its direction. If Bitcoin breaks through the $82,500–$83,000 resistance level with significant volume and manages to sustain its position above it, this could be interpreted as a sign that the recovery is gaining momentum. Conversely, a dip below $82,000 could be viewed as a sign of short-term weakness. For Ethereum, breaking past the $82,430–$2,445 resistance range while maintaining support at $2,410 would present a positive outlook. At this juncture, rather than adding to or reducing positions, observing how the price behaves around these critical levels—and waiting for confirmation—would be a sounder approach from a risk management perspective.
