#GateSeptemberTransparencyReport
#Gate发布9月透明度报告 @Gate_Square$GT
Gate’s September transparency report is mostly good news, but “good” and “complete” aren’t the same thing. Here’s how I’d read it with the numbers side by side.
1. The numbers
Registered users passed 62M (another industry review cites 61M+, so “about 61–62M” is safer), with 5,300+ digital assets and 12,800+ stocks and ETFs listed. September derivatives volume was reported at $396.4B, up 38.2% month over month. That lifted market share to 10.1%, the largest share gain among leading exchanges, and placed Gate third globally. Spot volume was $48.8B, up 21.9%. A separate tracker lists 1,022 TradFi assets and 366 stock-derivative targets, which is a different definition from the 12,800 listing count, so it’s fair to ask which of those are actually tradable around the clock.
2. Rankings: what I could verify
Third in derivatives checks out. The card also says “top two in spot,” and I couldn’t verify that. What I found is first in 30-day spot volume growth (+667%) and third by daily spot volume on one day in August. Growth rank isn’t volume rank, so I’d word it carefully.
3. The mix (my math)
Derivatives were about 89% of total volume ($396.4B of $445.2B), roughly 8 times spot. That’s why the derivatives ranking matters more than the spot one, and it also means results swing with leverage and volatility.
4. Year over year, a more honest picture
A year ago Gate reported 41M users, 3,600+ assets, an 11.3% derivatives share and second place. Now users are up 51% and assets up 47% (my math), but derivatives share is 10.1% and the rank is third, each from that month’s industry review. Spot volume was $117B then and $48.8B now, about -58% (my math). Methodologies and market conditions differ, so treat it as directional. Still, “users up, share down” is worth saying out loud.
5. Meme Go
Volume rose 77.55% and users 67.65% month over month. That means volume per user rose only about 6% (my math), so growth came mostly from more people, not heavier trading per person. No base figures were given, so the percentages don’t show scale. Meme coins are high-risk, and growth rates don’t show how users fared.
6. Reserves and the fine print
The reported reserve ratio is above 127%. One aggregator puts reserves at $8.2B, which would imply roughly $1.75B of surplus over customer liabilities (my math, single-source). Two caveats: a ratio is a snapshot, and a transparency report is self-published, not an audit. Also, “registered users” isn’t the same as “active users.”
My take: a solid month. The derivatives rank and the reserve ratio are the strongest parts. What I’d want next are active users, retention, and the share trend over several months, since users rising while share slips is the number to watch.
Not financial advice.
