#WarshIMFSpeech

#每周来晒 #沃什IMF讲话
Quick note before the take: this fireside chat already happened. Warsh spoke with the IMF’s Georgieva in Bangkok on Friday morning local time (Thursday night in New York). So the useful question isn’t “what will he say,” it’s “what did he leave open, and what does that mean for the next 8 days?”

1. What he said
He described September’s hike (to 3.75%–4.00%) as taking out a dose of accommodation and repeated his focus on price stability. On the rate path, he said “I don’t prejudge meetings.” That means no signal for October or December. He also called AI investment one factor behind higher inflation, while still expecting AI to be a large benefit over time, with a bumpy transition.

2. No guidance is the guidance
He has moved away from traditional forward guidance, so markets read other Fed officials instead. Several of them signaled comfort with holding in October. One economist team expects a pause in October and a final hike in December. Minutes also reportedly show most officials expect another hike this year. Futures put the odds of an October hike at around 15% in one report and nearer 28% in another, so estimates vary. A pause is the base case, but it isn’t a certainty.

3. The asymmetry (my math)
If an October hike is priced at 15%, an actual hike is an 85-point surprise, while a pause moves odds by only 15 points. At 28%, it’s 72 versus 28. Either way, a priced-in pause offers little upside from “no news,” while a hike carries most of the repricing risk.

4. What the market did
Not much. BTC finished the week back near $82K, and the chat reinforced the pause view instead of changing it.

5. BTC levels (from my screenshot)
Price is around 82,717.

50-day MA at 81,536: price is 1.4% above it
Support at 80,359: -2.9%
Resistance at 86,334: +4.4%
RSI is 51.3, and the MACD histogram is -351

6. Scenario map for Oct 27–28 (my view, not a forecast)

Hold with neutral language: BTC likely stays inside its range
Hold with a hawkish December signal: pressure builds, and the 50-day and 80.4K support come into play
Surprise hike: the biggest repricing, with 80.4K tested first

My take: Warsh’s silence isn’t dovish or hawkish. It moves the information into the data. Until the meeting, the next inflation prints and other Fed speakers matter more than a speech that already happened. I’m not positioning around the chat. I’m watching the 50-day at 81.5K and the 80.4K support heading into the meeting.

Not financial advice.

Do you think a Fed chair who refuses to guide the market makes BTC more volatile or less? And which scenario for Oct 28 are you planning around?
