Bitcoin faking us out again? After plunging all weekend, $BTC hit just above $80,000 at its low last night. A big green candle this morning sent it V-shaped back up, and it’s acting like nothing happened, climbing back above 82400. But whether this rebound is “made of paper” or “built to last” depends on what happens to volume next.

The chart shows a clear breakout on the 15-minute timeframe, but volume hasn’t followed. It looks more like a “fake breakout” driven by short covering than a genuine move fueled by buyers putting real money on the line. Market sentiment is very delicate right now. The Fed rate-hike outlook hasn’t fully faded, and the 5.31% Treasury yield hangs over the market like a sword, ready to pressure risk assets at any moment.

Then there are altcoins. Some smaller coins like Celestia may be bouncing around, but overall liquidity is still nowhere near healthy. Order book depth for Bitcoin and Ethereum has recovered, but altcoins are still in a “dead pool,” with capital clearly concentrating in major coins. What does that mean?

It means that if you chase altcoins that “look cheap,” you could easily get caught in a “liquidity trap.” Right now, existing capital is stubbornly holding on, and institutions are quietly buying the dip. We haven’t yet seen the capital base needed for a full-blown bull run.

Don’t let Monday’s green candle cloud your judgment. Around $82,000, you could trim your position or take some profits, then wait for a pullback to confirm support before considering adding. If it really breaks below 80,600, stay alert—it could be the start of another deep correction. As for altcoins, unless you have insider information or can watch the market and trade short-term, stay away. This isn’t a time for “everything to bloom”; it’s a “the strong get stronger” market.

Geopolitical tensions have also been unsettled lately. If something happens around the Strait of Hormuz, both crude oil and gold will feel it, and crypto, as a high-risk asset class, is even more vulnerable to the fallout. Spot traders should sit tight, and futures traders should keep their positions light. There’s no need to rush in this market. $BNB

Holding spot +1; in this market, opening a large futures position is just giving money away

The talk of institutions quietly buying the dip is interesting; on-chain data does indeed show whales moving

If something blows up around the Strait of Hormuz, crude oil and gold will move in tandem, and crypto will definitely follow suit

This V-shaped reversal really lured quite a few people into chasing longs; without volume backing it up, it’s just bullshit
