Instead of a standard chart review, here are ten numbers that explain where Zcash stands today, what they mean, and what to watch next.
1. $1,162: the price in context
Trackers show ZEC between about $1,144 and $1,176 on October 17, so $1,162 sits in the middle of the live range. Over the past 24 hours the high was $1,239.00 and the low was $1,130.36.
2. #10: its rank by size
ZEC ranks tenth by market cap. Its market cap is about $19.98 billion, which puts a privacy coin in the same top-ten conversation as the biggest layer-one networks.
3. 80.6%: how much supply already circulates
About 16.92 million ZEC are circulating against a maximum supply of 21 million. By my math that is roughly 80.6% of the cap. At $1,162, a fully diluted value is about $24.4 billion, so remaining issuance is a smaller factor than in many newer coins.
4. 3.8%: turnover, a measure of interest
24-hour volume is about $762 million. Against the market cap, that is only 3.8% daily turnover, which is moderate and suggests trading is active but not frantic.
5. -80%: distance from the peak
The all-time high is $5,941.80. Price is about 80% below it, so any recovery narrative must contend with a lot of overhead supply from late buyers.
6. +427%: the one-year picture
ZEC is up 427% over the past year, which implies a price near $217 twelve months ago. That is why the long-term trend still looks strong even after this month's pullback.
7. -4% to -6%: the weekly move
ZEC is down about 6% on the week and fell 4% in a day that the broader market fell about 1%. Another tracker shows a 7-day decline of 4.38%. Compared with Ethereum's decline of roughly 1.35%, ZEC is lagging.
8. $1,345 to $1,130: the weekly range
On October 12, ZEC reached a high of $1,345 before closing at $1,167, an 8.52% drop. The latest low is near $1,130. Price sits 13.6% below the weekly high and about 2.8% above the low, so it is in the lower part of the range.
9. 7 versus 14: the indicator count
Seven technical indicators are bullish and fourteen bearish, for an overall bearish reading. ZEC also lost its 20-day EMA, which keeps short-term pressure on price until it recovers that average.
10. October 20: the date to mark
The NU7 upgrade testnet activated in early October, with a mainnet launch review slated for October 20 and possible activation in November. Network upgrades often move sentiment before they ship, so the review can matter.
What the numbers say together
Size, supply and one-year gains support the long-term case. The weekly slide, the bearish indicator count and the lost 20-day EMA say the short-term trend is weak. Flows add mixed signals: Fortitude Mining sold 5,790 borrowed ZEC on October 10 to raise $8.3 million, and the US ZEC spot ETF saw net outflows of $1.2197 million on one day. On the other hand, a Winklevoss Zcash ETF filing was submitted in early October, keeping the institutional angle alive.
Levels to track
Support: $1,130, then $1,110. Resistance: $1,246, then $1,300, then $1,345. A daily close above $1,246 would be the first sign of a trend repair, while a close below $1,110 would open the $1,000 area.
Market backdrop
BTC is near $81,650 and ETH near $2,429. Fed Chair Warsh avoided hawkish signals this week, but inflation data remains hot, and the Fed meets on October 27-28. Privacy coins can move sharply either way when macro shifts.
My takeaway
Long term strong, short term cautious. I would keep size modest, treat $1,130 as the key line, and wait for a clear reclaim of $1,246 before leaning bullish.
