#WarshIMFSpeech #ShareWeekly $BTC $XAUUSD

The market wanted a signal from Warsh on October. It got a refusal, and the market read that as a signal anyway. Here’s how I’m sorting it.

1. What he said
Warsh said he won’t say what he might do at meetings for the rest of 2026. He called October and December the points where output, employment and inflation get judged. He said the world has broadly conformed to the Fed’s expectations since the September hike. On AI, he was optimistic but called the road “very bumpy”, and one report has him saying AI is likely to lift demand before it delivers supply-side gains.

2. What he didn’t say
He didn’t hint at a hike and he didn’t promise a hold. He also didn’t push back on December pricing, which sits around 91% in futures-based reports. That was the one place a hawkish line could have landed, and it didn’t.

3. What markets did
As he spoke, October hike odds slid to about 17% from roughly 30%, per Bloomberg’s live blog. The dollar index eased about 0.2% to near 101.8. Gold added roughly $25 and moved toward $4,200. BTC went from about $80,500 in the Asian session to $82,046.7 on my chart, roughly +1.9% (my math, and timing is approximate). I’m not claiming the speech caused all of that. I’m saying nothing in it stopped it.

4. No guidance isn’t no information
Goldman’s point is that less forward guidance means bigger moves around data, especially in short-dated Treasuries, the dollar and rate-sensitive stocks. A Fed communication blackout starts later today, so from now to the Oct 28 decision there are 12 days with no Fed voices. If October sits near 17%, a hold is the base case at about 83% (my math). Every inflation print in between carries more weight.

5. Compare it to Jackson Hole
On Aug 28, BTC touched 81,455, its highest since May, then fell to 76,877 after Warsh’s hawkish keynote. That’s about -5.6% (my math). Speeches move markets when they surprise, and this one didn’t.

6. Levels I’m using
BTC’s lower line at 80,889.6 is 1.4% below price, and the upper line at 86,379.3 is 5.3% above. Gold (XAUUSDT) is 4,182.60, with its upper line at 4,234.34 (+1.2%) and lower at 4,102.17 (-1.9%).

My take: The “AI lifts demand first” line cuts both ways. DBS read it as reassurance. I read it as a reminder that demand-side pressure can arrive before productivity does. With no guidance and a blackout, I’d rather trade the data than the speech. The 80,889.6 line matters more to me than the quote.

Not financial advice.

Did Warsh’s silence read as dovish to you, or just neutral? And are you holding risk into the blackout or trimming?
