Ten days before WCTC S9 starts, most of the chatter is about the 6M headline. I spent today on the parts nobody is talking about: where the money sits, what the warm-up actually pays, and which parts guarantee something versus which are just a chance.
1. Where the 6M actually sits
The maxima add up exactly (my arithmetic): team 3.2M, solo 0.4M, BTC/USDT event-contract PK 0.4M, Lucky Launchpad 0.725M, a 1M side-event carnival and a 0.275M fixed bonus. That’s about 53% team, 7% solo, 7% PK, 12% Launchpad, 17% carnival and 5% fixed. Only the first three, 4.0M or 67%, are leaderboard pools that unlock with valid traders. The headline is a ceiling spread across very different things.
2. The warm-up: 50,000 USDT, small print
It runs through Oct 26 (09:00 UTC), counts only USDT-margined perpetual futures with no cross-product multipliers, and needs its own registration. Warm-up volume doesn’t carry into the main event. The tiers:
1st: 8,000 USDT, needs 1B volume
2nd: 5,000, needs 500M
3rd: 3,000, needs 100M
4th–10th: 1,000 each, needs 50M
11th–30th: 450 each, needs 5M
31st–100th: share 18,000 pro rata, minimum 20,000
My math at each threshold: 1st pays $8 per $1M traded, 2nd $10, 3rd $30, 4th–10th $20 and 11th–30th $90. A hypothetical 1bp (0.01%) all-in cost is $100 per $1M. So the top tiers only make sense for traders with very low costs. Miss your tier’s minimum and you get nothing, and you aren’t moved down.
3. Draws vs. guarantees
Registering for the Red Bull draw gives one free chance. Trading adds more at 20k (1), 200k (1), 2M (2) and 10M (3). The rules say a draw chance doesn’t guarantee a prize. The Lucky Launchpad is described differently. One report says every launch comes with a guaranteed reward, but that can be cash, a voucher or merchandise, and the 725,000 pool is face value across all of it.
4. The PK is a different animal
It’s BTC/USDT event-contract PK with random matching over a short window. One report says 5 minutes, while an earlier guide said 30-minute rounds, so check the page. Rewards need at least 1 valid round and 5,000 USDT of converted volume. That’s win-count gaming, not trend trading, so size accordingly.
5. Ten-day checklist
Main registration closes Oct 26 at 08:00 UTC. A team needs 5 members and locks once the contest starts with 5 in it. Identity verification is required to receive rewards. Payouts come within 15 business days after the event ends and review, and within 14 for the warm-up.
My take: For a normal trader, the best use of ten days isn’t more volume. It’s reading the tiers and picking one track. The warm-up is built for very high volume, the draws are a lottery, and the Launchpad’s guarantee is about the draw, not the dollar amount. I’d treat all of it as a bonus on trades I’d make anyway.
Not financial advice.
Which would you actually enter: warm-up, solo, team or just the draws? And what volume would you run for an $8-per-million prize?
