#NvidiaPlans2BMoreForEuropeanAI $NVDA
Jensen Huang said in Paris that Nvidia plans to unveil about $2 billion of new European AI deals within the next week, on top of roughly $8 billion invested in the region over the past year. Four French startups were named: Doctolib, Genesis AI, Pigment and Entalpic. Here’s how I read it, and what the daily chart says.
1. What’s actually confirmed
The $2B is a plan, not a list of deals. Only the four startup stakes have been named so far, and they’re minority positions. In Doctolib’s case, Nvidia also committed to help train its AI models. The $8B plus $2B adds up to about $10B across roughly a year of European activity.
2. Sizing it (my math)
One report says Nvidia has committed over $40B to AI equity globally this year. If that’s right, $2B is about 5% of it, so this is a meaningful signal for Europe but not a needle-mover for Nvidia itself. Treat that $40B as single-source.
3. The strategy behind it
Huang pushed open-source models as Europe’s route to catch up. Open models still need serious compute, so this is also demand creation: back the startups, and the compute they need tends to run on the same hardware. Critics call that circular. I think it’s a fair point and also normal ecosystem-building. Both can be true.
4. The friction
Public skepticism toward AI in Europe is real, mostly around energy use and autonomous agents. Valuations also matter: one report says Doctolib’s latest secondary sale valued it at €3.6B, well under the €5.8B from 2022. And AI spending worries were already in the headlines yesterday. Early-stage stakes take years to prove out, so this won’t show up in earnings soon.
5. What my chart says (levels from my screenshot)
NVDA is at $228.91.
Resistance: $239.47, about +4.6% away
Support: $218.65, about -4.5% away
Short-term averages: 14-day at 231.15 (price is ~1.0% below it), 21-day at 228.36 (price is right on it, +0.2%), 35-day at 225.11 (~1.7% below price)
RSI is around 52, which is neutral. MACD sits at 2.68, below its signal line at 3.45, with a negative histogram of -0.78.
So the setup is balanced: roughly 4.6% up versus 4.5% down, with momentum cooling but not broken. The news is a long-term story. The chart says short-term, nothing is decided yet.
My take: strategically smart, financially small. I read it as ecosystem building, not a near-term earnings catalyst. For the price, I’m watching the 21-day average and $218.65. A close below support would tell me this announcement didn’t change the short-term picture, while a push through the 14-day and toward $239 would suggest buyers still want the AI story.
Not financial advice.
Do you see Nvidia backing its own customers as smart ecosystem building or circular demand? And where’s your line on NVDA, $218 or $239?
