#GateWCTCS9全球交易赛

Gate's World Crypto Trading Competition Season 9 (WCTC S9) allows you to compete individually, join a team, or participate in both categories simultaneously.

The best option depends on your trading volume, the strength of your team, and your risk appetite.

The official competition will take place from October 26 to November 25, 2026 (UTC). Registration opened on October 9 and will close on October 26—the day the competition begins—at 11:00 TRT (08:00 UTC). The advertised main prize pool can reach up to 6,000,000 USDT; however, this is a maximum limit based on participation levels rather than a guaranteed payout.

1. Comparison: Team competition vs. individual competition

Team competition

Team size: Minimum of 5 people — 1 captain and 4 members.

Ranking criteria: Team trading volume, CFD trading volume, and profit.

Advertised maximum prize pool: 3,200,000 USDT.

Key advantage: Your team can compete on multiple leaderboards and potentially win prizes in both stages of the competition.
Key disadvantage: Your team must have a sufficient number of eligible members; additionally, your personal share of the prize depends on your own eligibility status and contribution.

Individual Competition (Solo)

Team requirement: None.

Ranking criterion: Your own cumulative weighted trading volume.

Advertised maximum prize pool: 400,000 USDT.

Key advantage: You have control over your performance and do not depend on teammates.

Key disadvantage: You must reach a valid weighted trading volume of at least 20,000 USDT to be included in the main individual leaderboard.

These two competitions are evaluated independently; therefore, eligible traders can participate in both simultaneously.

2. How to participate?

Step 1 — Register
Log in using your eligible main Gate account.
Click the relevant button to join and confirm that your registration has been successfully completed.

Complete the required identity verification (KYC) process before claiming any rewards.

Step 2 — Choose your competition path
Team: Create a team as a captain or join an existing team. Ensure all five members confirm their participation before the team reaches the required number of members.
Individual: Join the solo competition and generate your own valid weighted trading volume.

Both: Compete in both team and individual categories simultaneously.

Step 3 — Trade during the official period
Only valid trading activities conducted after registration and within the respective competition period are considered for the main leaderboard. Trades made prior to registration do not count.

Step 4 — Track eligibility and rewards
Check the live leaderboard, your qualifying trading volume, your team's membership status, and the applicable reward rules. Appearing on the leaderboard does not, in itself, guarantee a payout.

3. Team competition: strategy, requirements and rewards

How the team leaderboard works

The team competition has two independently scored halves:

Competition phase Dates (UTC) Share of team prize pool
First half Oct 26–Nov 10 45%
Second half Nov 10–Nov 25 55%

Each half has three leaderboards:

Team leaderboard Share of that half’s pool Qualification requirement
Platform-wide trading volume 60% At least one member reaches 20,000 USDT qualifying weighted volume
CFD trading volume 20% At least one member reaches 50,000 USDT valid CFD volume
Profit leaderboard 20% At least one member reaches 20,000 USDT qualifying volume and valid profit of at least zero

The team must also have at least five members. The platform-wide team ranking excludes CFD volume, while the CFD leaderboard uses its own volume metric.

How team rewards are divided

For each qualifying leaderboard reward:

* Captain: Receives 20%.
* Top 10 qualifying contributors other than the captain: Split 40% equally.
* Other qualifying members: Split the remaining 40% equally.

If a contribution group has no qualifying members, the official rules specify how its unallocated share is handled among other qualifying members.

Importantly, team ranking does not automatically qualify all five members for a reward. Each member must meet the personal eligibility threshold for the relevant leaderboard and half.

Recommended team strategy

* Recruit before locking the team. Once the team reaches five members, members cannot leave and the team cannot be disbanded under the event rules.

* Choose complementary strengths. Look for members who can contribute consistently to qualifying platform-wide volume, CFD volume or the profit leaderboard.

* Set individual eligibility targets. For each half, aim to meet the personal thresholds for every leaderboard you want to earn from:

* Platform-wide: 20,000 USDT qualifying individual volume.

* CFD: 50,000 USDT valid CFD volume.

* Profit: 20,000 USDT qualifying volume and valid profit of at least zero.

* Review results at the midpoint. The second half has a larger share of the team prize pool, and its rankings are assessed independently.

* Prioritize profitable, valid activity. Do not trade purely to inflate volume if the costs or market risk outweigh the potential reward.

The captain of the team ranked first on the platform-wide trading leaderboard across both halves can also receive a physical gold medal valued at 30,000 USDT. This is a medal, not a 30,000 USDT cash payment.

4. Individual competition: strategy, requirements and rewards

The individual leaderboard ranks participants by cumulative qualifying weighted volume. You do not need to form a team.

The minimum threshold for the main individual volume leaderboard is 20,000 USDT in qualifying weighted volume during the competition. However, reaching that amount only makes you eligible; your final rank and the unlocked prize pool determine whether you receive a reward.

Individual reward structure

Maximum advertised individual pool: 400,000 USDT. The amounts below depend on the applicable ranking and reward rules.

Final rank Reward structure
1st 15% of the unlocked individual pool
2nd 10% of the unlocked individual pool
3rd 7% of the unlocked individual pool
4th–10th Share 20% equally
11th–50th Share 18% equally
51st–300th Share 30% proportionally to qualifying weighted volume
301st–400th 150 USDT futures position trial voucher per person
401st–600th 100 USDT futures position trial voucher per person
601st–700th 50 USDT futures position trial voucher per person
701st–1,000th Share a 20,000 USDT voucher allocation proportionally to qualifying volume, capped at 50 USDT per person

The ranks from 301 to 1,000 have a separate nominal voucher pool of 60,000 USDT. These are futures position trial vouchers, not necessarily withdrawable cash; their usage, expiration and other restrictions apply.

Recommended individual strategy

* Set a realistic weighted-volume target based on your usual trading activity and available capital.

* Monitor the leaderboard to see how close you are to the relevant reward band.

* Compare the eligible trading products and their weighting before deciding which products to trade.

* Keep a record of your actual trading costs, realized profit or loss, and qualifying volume.

* If you already have a strong team, pursue the Solo ranking as an additional opportunity rather than abandoning the team competition.

For example, a trader targeting the 301–1,000 range may find the individual track more attainable than trying to reach the top 300. But the actual competitiveness of each band depends on other participants, and no rank or reward is guaranteed.

5. Trading-volume weighting: which products count more?

The competition converts eligible trading volume into weighted volume. The multipliers in the S9 guide are:

Trading product Weight Example: 10,000 USDT nominal volume
Stocks / Event Contracts 200% 20,000 USDT weighted
Spot / ETFs / Convert 150% 15,000 USDT weighted
Futures 100% 10,000 USDT weighted
Options 50% 5,000 USDT weighted
TradFi CFDs 5% 500 USDT weighted

The examples illustrate the weighting formula, assuming all the trading volume qualifies under the rules. Your supplied announcement does not mention Options or TradFi CFDs, but the official S9 guide includes them.

Practical implication: Stocks and Event Contracts generate more weighted volume per unit of nominal trading volume than Spot or Futures. However, a higher multiplier does not mean a trade is more profitable or safer. Do not choose a product solely because its multiplier is higher.

6. Participation requirements and exclusions

Before participating, check the following eligibility rules.

Eligible account and registration

Use an eligible main account, successfully register for the event, and complete identity verification as required to receive rewards.

Team requirements

A team needs one captain and at least four additional members to appear on the public team leaderboard. After reaching five members, the team cannot be disbanded and members cannot leave.

Ineligible accounts

The official rules exclude API users, VIP 15 and above, market makers, corporate and institutional accounts, and subaccounts. Multiple accounts associated with the same verified identity are treated as one participant.

Valid activity only

Unfilled or cancelled orders, transfers, non-trading asset changes and abnormal trades are excluded. Wash trading, self-trading, market manipulation and attempts to exploit the event can result in disqualification.

Rewards are generally distributed within 15 business days after the competition ends and the review is complete. Regional restrictions and product availability may also affect eligibility. Confirm the final conditions on the official WCTC S9 page.

7. Which option is more advantageous?

Choose based on your situation

Choose Team if…

You have four reliable teammates, can coordinate activity across the competition’s two halves, and want to compete across volume, CFD and profit leaderboards. This option provides several potential reward channels, but your individual share is conditional.

Choose Individual if…

You prefer to manage your own performance, do not have a reliable team, or want rewards determined by your own ranking rather than the contributions of teammates.

Choose Both if…

You already have a suitable team and can pursue both tracks without increasing your trading risk or making unnecessary trades. The two tracks are independently assessed, so this is potentially the broadest opportunity.

My recommendation is to register early, secure a reliable team if one is available, and pursue the individual ranking alongside it. This gives you access to both competitions without making your individual result dependent on your team’s rank.

If you do not have four dependable teammates, Solo is the simpler option. A poorly coordinated team may be less advantageous than concentrating on your own qualifying performance.

One final consideration: the overall advertised pool of 6 million USDT is not the amount you should expect to receive. Dynamic pools depend on participation, and the individual and team rankings have their own thresholds and distribution rules. Trading fees, volatility, leverage and potential losses can outweigh competition rewards. Participate only with a strategy and capital appropriate to your risk tolerance.
