ETH Earn Bonus Versus Staking, ETFs and Just Holding: What a 7-Day Lock Is Really Competing Against

Per ETH at roughly 2,710, a 3% bonus APR over seven days is worth about $1.56, and the full 5% headline about $2.59. Compare that with Friday's session, when ETH opened near 2,705 and reached 2,746, a $41 range, roughly sixteen times the maximum weekly yield. So the lock is still mostly a price decision. The more interesting question is what else your ETH could be doing.

Native staking pays roughly 3% to 4% a year, with no price protection and an exit queue. US spot ETH ETFs are another route, and since January 5 Grayscale's ETHE has been distributing staking income to shareholders. What matters more than the yield is the flow: ETFs took in about $690M in the week of September 21 to 25, a seven-session streak of roughly $850M that ended on September 29 with a $2.8M outflow. Flows are the bigger driver of ETH than any earn rate, and a one-week fixed term sits at the low-commitment, low-reward end of that spectrum.

Now the calendar inside the lock. A subscription starting today runs to around October 10. It covers the Glamsterdam fork on the Sepolia testnet on October 6, which is a test network only with no mainnet date confirmed, and Monday's equity open after Friday's 0.7% S&P rally. It does not cover the October 28 Fed decision or the October 29 PCE report. In other words it is a relatively light event week, which suits a short lock, and the real risk is a range break, not a scheduled shock.

The numbers on the chart: ETH is about 45% below its 4,946 all-time high. The first resistance is 2,720, the supply zone runs from 2,750 to 2,800, and 2,807 is the level analysts want to see broken, about 4% above spot. On the downside, 2,550 is the bearish trigger and 2,500 the larger support. Citi lifted its 12-month target to 3,028.

One detail on the incentive. For 3 ETH, about $8,130, the 10 USDT futures trial bonus is worth more than the week's interest itself, which is about $4.67 at 3% and $7.77 at 5%. If you use it as intended, the sweetener matters more than the APR.

My bias is constructive while ETH holds the 2,676.07 hourly floor. I would want to buy 2,690 to 2,695, with a daily close under 2,635 ending the range and 2,550 marking a trend change. A daily close above 2,807 opens 2,900 and then 3,000. I would only lock ETH I am fine not touching this week, because an illiquid position is the cost of a breakout I cannot trade.

Would you rather lock ETH for a week to collect the bonus, or keep it liquid in case ETH breaks above 2,807?
