Gate Europe has achieved PCI DSS v4.0.1 Level 1 certification, with the assessment completed on September 15, 2026. Gate’s latest announcement, updated September 23, confirms that the certification covers Gate Connect, Gate Card and related supporting systems.

This is particularly relevant as Gate expands from a purely crypto-trading environment toward payment products that interact more directly with traditional financial infrastructure.

What Level 1 actually validates

PCI DSS is an industry security standard designed for organizations that store, process or transmit payment-card data. Its requirements cover areas including secure networks, protection of stored account data, strong cryptography for data transmission, access controls and security testing.

So the significance of Gate's certification is not simply the “Level 1” label. The important point is that the payment-card security controls within the assessed scope have undergone an independent third-party assessment.

The certification specifically brings Gate Connect and Gate Card into the highlighted compliance scope. That creates an important security layer around the payment side of Gate's ecosystem rather than focusing only on exchange infrastructure.

Why encryption alone is not the whole story

PCI DSS v4.0.1 treats payment security as a broader control framework. The PCI Security Standards Council notes that encryption can render cardholder data unreadable, but encryption alone does not automatically remove systems from PCI DSS scope. Other applicable controls still matter.
