The CLARITY Act vote was happening, ETH was getting volatile, and I decided to trade the reaction instead of trying to predict the outcome.
I was watching ETH closely during the U.S. Senate voting because I expected the market to move quickly around the result. These are the moments where it’s very easy to enter late just because a candle is moving fast. I didn’t want to do that. I waited for ETH to give me a level where I could clearly define my trade.
When ETH reached around 2,387, I took an ETHUSDT short.
My target was 2,375 from the beginning. I used 200x leverage and allocated 9% of my wallet to this trade. I already knew that with this kind of leverage, I couldn’t afford to trade emotionally or keep changing the plan after entering.
The idea was straightforward: if the selling pressure continued and ETH reached my planned level, I would take the profit and close the position. I wasn’t trying to catch every dollar of the move.
ETH moved down exactly as I expected, and 2,375 was successfully hit.
I closed the trade and booked 50% profit.
For me, the interesting part of this trade is not simply that the TP was hit. The CLARITY Act vote was the catalyst, but I didn’t use the headline alone as my entry signal. I was watching how ETH actually reacted to the uncertainty and then built my trade around that reaction.
That distinction matters.
A major news event can create a big candle, but a big candle isn't automatically an entry. Sometimes the first move is followed by a reversal, sometimes the market keeps running, and sometimes both sides get trapped. My job was not to predict which one would happen with certainty. My job was to define a setup, know where I wanted to exit, and accept the result.
The 9% wallet allocation was also part of my planning. The leverage was 200x, so I knew the position could react very aggressively to even a small ETH move. That made it even more important for me to have a fixed target instead of becoming greedy once the trade started moving in my favor.
And when 2,375 came, I didn't move the TP lower just because ETH might continue falling.
The level was hit. The trade was done. Profit was booked.
My complete setup:
ETHUSDT Short
Entry: 2,387
Take Profit: 2,375
Leverage: 200x
Wallet used: 9%
Profit target: 50%
Result: TP successfully hit
The biggest thing I took from this trade is that you don't need to predict the entire market to make a trade work. You need a reason to enter, a level where your idea is invalidated, a realistic target, and the discipline to follow the plan when emotions start getting involved.
The CLARITY Act vote created the volatility.
ETH gave me the setup. My plan gave me the exit.
