#GateUSExpandsTo37StateLicenses
A new license is easy to describe as a regulatory milestone. The more important story is what happens when those approvals start connecting into a wider U.S. market footprint.
On September 14, Gate US reached 37 state-level compliance permits after securing a Massachusetts Money Transmitter License (MTL). But the bigger number is the one that deserves attention: Gate US says its services now extend across 47 U.S. states and territories. That makes this more than a single-license announcement. It is a measurable expansion of the infrastructure required to operate across one of the world’s most fragmented financial markets.
1️⃣ 37 licenses — the compliance layer is getting deeper
State-level licensing in the U.S. is not simply a box-checking exercise. Money transmission rules can involve state-specific financial requirements, compliance controls, reporting obligations and continuing regulatory oversight.
The Massachusetts approval is particularly relevant because it comes under the state’s updated money-transmission framework, effective in 2026. Reaching 37 state-level permits therefore shows that Gate US is continuing to build its regulatory foundation rather than relying on a single nationwide approval model.
The progression itself is also important. Gate US had previously reported 35 state-level MTLs and 46 compliant jurisdictions. Moving from 35 to 37 permits, alongside the increase to 47 states and territories, shows that the U.S. expansion is continuing incrementally rather than being a one-off announcement.
2️⃣ 47-state/territory coverage — footprint matters more than the license headline
This is where the numbers become more meaningful.
A license count measures regulatory approvals. A 47-state/territory service footprint measures practical geographic reach.
That distinction matters because the ultimate objective of compliance expansion is market access. If regulatory coverage continues expanding, it can potentially support broader availability of services, stronger relationships with banking and payment partners, and deeper penetration among U.S. users.
The U.S. regulatory environment is also becoming more standardized. The Money Transmission Modernization Act has been enacted fully or partly in 31 states, according to the Conference of State Bank Supervisors. As more states align around modernized money-transmission frameworks, exchanges with established compliance infrastructure may be better positioned to expand efficiently.
3️⃣ Compliance → access → competitive moat
The strongest part of this story is not 37 or 47 by itself. It is the potential connection between the two numbers and actual market growth.
For a global exchange entering the U.S., regulatory coverage can become a meaningful barrier to entry. Building state-by-state compliance infrastructure requires capital, legal resources, operational controls and the ability to maintain those standards over time.
That creates a different kind of competitive advantage from trading volume alone.
The next metric to watch is therefore not simply “How many licenses does Gate US have?” It is whether the expanding footprint translates into more accessible products, stronger financial infrastructure, greater liquidity and sustained U.S. user growth.
That is why 37 state-level permits + 47-state/territory coverage is a stronger Gate Square story than “another license acquired.” The numbers together show Gate US moving from individual regulatory approvals toward a broader nationwide operating footprint.
For Gate US, the real milestone is no longer just obtaining permission state by state. It is turning that compliance infrastructure into scalable U.S. market access. @Gate_Square @Gate Launch
With the Massachusetts MTL license now in place, Gate US’s total number of state-level compliant licenses nationwide has risen to 37.
For global trading platforms, growth is not just about trading volume, but also about steadily strengthening compliance, infrastructure, and localization capabilities.
