If you ask me what the strongest moat is for a global trading platform, my answer is simple: compliance.

Trading volume can bring attention. New products can bring users. But compliance is what helps a platform build the foundation to operate across different markets for the long run.

That’s why I’m paying attention to Gate US’s regulatory expansion.

Gate US currently lists licenses across 37 U.S. jurisdictions, including a Money Transmitter License in Massachusetts. Its latest licensing footprint shows that the U.S. expansion is not just about entering another market — it is also about building the regulatory infrastructure needed to operate within different state-level requirements.

And this is the part I find more important.

In the U.S., money-transmitter requirements are handled at the state level, so building a nationwide footprint is not simply a matter of getting one approval and calling it done. Different jurisdictions can have their own licensing and compliance requirements.

For me, that makes compliance a real competitive advantage.

A platform can copy trading features. It can compete on fees. It can launch similar products. But building a broad regulatory framework, maintaining licenses, strengthening risk controls, and adapting operations to local requirements takes much more time and infrastructure.

That is why I look at Gate’s U.S. progress differently.

37 licenses is not just a number to me. It represents the amount of regulatory groundwork being built behind the platform.

My choice is compliance.

Because in the next stage of crypto, I don't think the biggest platforms will be defined only by how much they trade.

I think the stronger question will be:

Who has built the infrastructure, compliance, and trust to keep operating as the market becomes more regulated?

For me, that is the moat worth watching.

🇺🇸 37 state-level licenses and counting — Gate US is continuing to expand its footprint across the U.S.
With the addition of its Massachusetts MTL, Gate US now holds 37 state-level compliance licenses across the country.
For a global trading platform, growth is about more than trading volume — it’s also about steadily strengthening compliance, infrastructure, and localized capabilities.
