Post
Next week could be one of the biggest weeks for U.S. crypto policy this year.
The reason is simple: we have several important events landing almost back-to-back, and the market is likely to pay close attention to Washington.
🇺🇸 Sept. 15 — CLARITY Act Senate vote
The biggest event is the U.S. Senate’s scheduled procedural vote on the Digital Asset Market CLARITY Act.
One important detail: this is a cloture/procedural vote, not the final vote to pass the entire bill. The Senate needs 60 votes to advance the legislation, which makes the vote a real test of bipartisan support.
The CLARITY Act is important because it aims to establish a clearer regulatory framework for digital assets and define the roles of regulators such as the SEC and CFTC. The crypto industry has been pushing for this kind of market-structure framework for years.
The difficult part is that disagreements remain around issues including ethics, regulatory boundaries and protections, so the 60-vote threshold is the key number to watch.
🇺🇸 Sept. 16 — U.S. crypto tax legislation
Just one day later, the House Ways and Means Committee is scheduled to hold a markup on crypto-related tax legislation.
Among the issues being discussed are how newly created tokens from mining and staking should be taxed, along with other digital-asset tax rules.
That matters because crypto regulation isn't only about whether an asset is a security or commodity. Tax treatment can directly affect how investors, miners, stakers and businesses operate in the U.S.
And there is another important layer.
Reports say President Trump met with advisers on Friday to review ethics language connected to the CLARITY Act ahead of the Senate vote. That shows how sensitive the remaining negotiations have become.
For the crypto market, I wouldn't automatically assume these events mean “everything goes up.”
The bigger opportunity may come from the volatility around the headlines.
If the CLARITY Act clears the 60-vote procedural hurdle, the market could interpret it as a major step toward clearer U.S. crypto regulation. If the vote fails or negotiations break down, we could see the opposite reaction as traders reduce risk.
So for me, the key dates are:
Sept. 15 → CLARITY Act procedural vote
Sept. 16 → House crypto-tax markup
Two days, two major U.S. crypto-policy developments.
I'm watching BTC and ETH first, because if these events trigger a broad risk-on move, major-cap liquidity will probably react before the smaller names.
But I won't trade the headline alone. I'll wait for the vote result + price confirmation + volume before deciding whether the move is real or just another news-driven spike.
Next week isn't about predicting green or red candles.
It's about being ready when the market finally chooses a direction.
