#XRP is sitting in a tight range at exactly the wrong time to be emotional. Price is around $1.35, down roughly 1.4% over 24h and 5.4% over 7 days, while 24h volume is about $965M and market cap is around $84.9B. The important part is that price is still holding the lower part of the range instead of breaking down cleanly.
What makes this week interesting is the amount of information waiting outside the chart.
The U.S. Senate is preparing for a key CLARITY Act procedural vote on September 15, and Republicans have already released an updated version of the bill with changes aimed at addressing some of the objections. The legislation still needs 60 votes, so the outcome and headlines around the vote could create serious volatility for XRP because regulatory clarity is directly tied to the broader institutional XRP narrative.
There is also a macro problem. U.S. August core CPI came in at 0.3% month-over-month, above the 0.2% expectation, and markets are now pricing roughly an 85% probability of a 25bp Fed hike at the September 15–16 meeting. That is not an ideal backdrop for high-beta crypto.
But the XRP-specific picture isn't completely bearish.
U.S. spot XRP ETFs have continued attracting capital even while XRP has fallen. Recent data put cumulative ETF inflows around $1.7B, with the funds holding more than 1% of circulating XRP. That tells me institutional demand hasn't disappeared — the spot price simply isn't responding as strongly as it did during the August rally.
There is another interesting development on the network side: XRPL's fixCleanup3_3_0 amendment activated on September 11, bringing protocol fixes affecting areas including AMMs, Checks and newer XRPL functionality. I wouldn't treat this alone as a price catalyst, but it is a constructive infrastructure development rather than a negative one.
Technically, $1.33–$1.35 is the zone I care about most right now. Price has repeatedly found buyers around this area. If it holds, XRP can continue building a base.
Above price, $1.40 is the first real test. A clean reclaim would put $1.45–$1.50 back into focus. That zone has repeatedly attracted sellers, so I wouldn't call a breakout until XRP can close above it and hold the level.
On the downside, $1.30 is the line in the sand. A daily close below $1.30 would change the structure from consolidation into a potential deeper correction, with $1.20 and $1.10 becoming the next areas I'd watch.
The strategy I'd use
I wouldn't chase XRP inside the middle of the range.
My preferred setup is a confirmed breakout-retest: wait for a daily close above $1.40, then look for the old resistance to hold as support around $1.40–$1.42. Invalidation below $1.34. The first target would be $1.45, followed by $1.50, with $1.60 as the larger extension if momentum accelerates.
If XRP instead loses $1.30 on a daily closing basis, I would abandon the bullish setup rather than average down blindly.
For risk management, I'd keep the trade risk around 1–2% of capital and calculate position size from the stop distance. The stop decides the size — not the amount of XRP I want to own.
My verdict: neutral, but watching for a bullish confirmation.
Above $1.40, the structure starts improving.
Above $1.50, the bigger recovery becomes much more interesting.
Below $1.30, I would turn defensive.
Until one of those levels breaks properly, I'm treating XRP as a range — not trying to predict the news, but waiting for price to show me what the market thinks about it.
