Galaxy Research recorded a reorganization event at Bitcoin block height 966,500 on September 11, when Spiderpool and Antpool simultaneously found two valid blocks pointing to the same parent block, briefly creating a race. According to Odaily, Antpool's block was ultimately added to the chain with more cumulative work, while Spiderpool's block was discarded.
Galaxy Research said this was the third single-block reorganization on Bitcoin in the past four weeks, following earlier events at block heights 962,722 and 963,853. Its node did not observe the Antpool block until it was confirmed and extended by later blocks.
In a single-block reorganization, the network continues building on the chain with more cumulative work, and the other block is removed from the chain. Monero has seen an 18-block reorganization, while Bitcoin SV experienced a 100-block reorganization in 2021. If a transaction is included in the replaced block, its confirmations disappear.$BTC
