#GateAugustTransparencyReport

Gate’s August Transparency Report puts several clear numbers on the table. Total reserves climbed to 8.215 billion dollars with an overall reserve ratio of 127 percent. Equity perpetuals volume jumped 308 percent month-over-month. RWA open interest market share reached 49.6 percent, ranking first among global centralized exchanges.

Each of those figures tells a different part of the story, but one stands out more than the others depending on what you care about most.
The 127 percent reserve ratio is the foundation. It sits comfortably above the industry’s 100 percent baseline and shows excess coverage across major assets including BTC, ETH, and the main stablecoins. In a market that still remembers past reserve shortfalls, consistent over-collateralization is the quiet signal that builds long-term trust. It does not generate headlines the way volume does, but it is the reason users keep capital on the platform through quieter periods.

The 308 percent surge in equity perpetuals volume shows product-market fit in real time. Three consecutive months of triple-digit growth in stock-linked contracts is rare. It suggests traders are finding the liquidity and the range of underlyings they need when traditional markets move. That kind of acceleration usually comes from listing depth and reliable execution rather than temporary hype.

The 49.6 percent share of RWA open interest is the purest market-share win. Holding nearly half of all RWA perpetual open interest across centralized exchanges means the platform is not just participating in the category—it is hosting a large portion of the actual positions. Open interest is stickier than pure volume. It reflects traders who are willing to keep risk on the books rather than just flipping contracts. That concentration of positioning is a stronger competitive signal than a single month of trading volume.
For me the open-interest leadership is the metric that matters most right now. Volume can spike and fade. Reserves prove solvency. But sustained open-interest share shows that liquidity and confidence are compounding in one place. When almost half the category’s outstanding positions sit on one venue, the next wave of flow has a natural home.

The combination of the three numbers is what makes the report useful. Strong reserves, accelerating product growth, and clear leadership in a fast-growing segment. That is the profile of a platform that is scaling across both crypto-native and TradFi-linked markets at the same time.

Which of the three stands out to you?
