#CoinDeskRevealsGateRWAPerpetualsTop3Globally

CoinDesk’s August exchange review put some clear numbers on the table. Gate’s RWA perpetuals volume reached 64.7 billion dollars, a 158 percent jump from the previous month. Market share more than doubled to 12.6 percent, enough to land in the global top three. On the broader derivatives side the platform cleared 287 billion dollars and sat in fourth place overall.

What stands out is the speed. The overall RWA perps market only grew a couple of percent in August. Gate’s piece of it grew more than one and a half times. That kind of outperformance usually means traders are actively choosing the venue rather than just riding a rising tide.

RWA perpetuals are still a young product set. Most of the volume sits in a handful of equity and commodity contracts. The platforms that offer the widest list of underlyings, keep liquidity tight, and stay available when volatility spikes tend to pull share. Gate’s listing breadth looks like it is doing exactly that. When memory-chip names and other equities moved hard in mid-August, the flow concentrated rather than scattered.

The fourth-place ranking in total derivatives volume matters too. It shows the RWA gains are not isolated. The rest of the futures book is large enough to keep the platform relevant across the board. Liquidity begets liquidity. Once a critical mass of traders sits on one book, the next wave of flow has a natural home.

From a practical trading angle this is useful information. When a venue is gaining share this quickly in a growing niche, the order books tend to stay deeper and the spreads tighter for longer. That is the environment where larger size can be worked without as much slippage. It also raises the bar for competitors. Matching the product coverage and the execution quality at the same time is not trivial.
Of course one strong month does not lock in the ranking forever.
Markets rotate and new listings appear. Still, doubling market share while the category itself only inches forward is a signal that something is working on the product and liquidity side. Worth watching how the open interest and the next month’s volume hold up.

The bigger picture is that tokenized traditional assets are moving from experiment to actual trading volume. The exchanges that treat them as core products instead of side experiments are the ones capturing the flow right now.
