The next battle in crypto may not be about which exchange lists the most coins. It may be about who can bring more of the global financial market onto crypto rails.

CoinDesk’s latest data showing Gate rising into the global top 3 among CEXs in the RWA perpetual market is therefore more than just a ranking update for me.

What is truly striking is the speed of the growth.

Gate’s RWA perpetual trading volume reached $64.7 billion in August.

Monthly growth was a full 158%.

More importantly, its market share rose from 5.32% to 12.6%.

I am not looking at just a single figure here.

I am looking at how the share is changing.

Because when a new market grows, everyone can grow.

The truly difficult part is being able to rapidly increase your own share as that market grows.

That is exactly what we are seeing on the RWA side.

The convergence of real-world assets with blockchain infrastructure has been discussed for a long time.

But talking about it is one thing; turning it into real trading volume is another.

Today, investors’ interest is not limited to Bitcoin and altcoins.

Stocks, commodities, indices, and other traditional financial assets are also increasingly connecting with the crypto market’s trading infrastructure.

I believe the industry’s direction is changing here.

In the past, competition among crypto exchanges was mainly about this:

Who offers more coins?

Now the question is gradually changing:

Who can bring more financial markets together in the same ecosystem?

The growth of the RWA perpetual market tells me that the second question is now much more important.

Gate’s rise to third place is also a notable position within this transformation.

But I do not interpret this as “the goal has been achieved.”

Quite the opposite.

I believe the real race is only beginning now.

Because entering the top 3 can be an achievement.

But volume alone will not be enough to remain there.

Liquidity depth, product diversity, trading experience, risk management, and user trust will all be evaluated together.

And as the RWA market grows, this competition will become even more intense.

For me, the most interesting question is no longer “What rank is Gate?”

When the RWA market becomes one of the main trading areas for crypto exchanges in a few years, where will the platforms that take early positions today be?

The $64.7 billion in volume is, in my view, just today’s figure.

The real story is what scale it will grow into. 👀
