Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ glass-substrate rollout is slipping

Its TGV modules have been under evaluation by $TSM for 2–3 months, but reliability testing has taken more than a month longer than expected. Some equipment suppliers have reportedly been asked to delay orders as a result
SEMCO had initially targeted glass-substrate mass production around 2027, but its GlaSSEM JV has now pushed full-scale operations to 2028. The delay reflects ongoing reliability verification, process stabilization, yield improvement and customer qualification rather than a specific rejection by TSMC
SEMCO is still committing heavily to the technology. It is investing KRW319.1B, about $240M, for a 66.2% stake in GlaSSEM, its JV with Dongwoo Fine-Chem/Sumitomo Chemical

A technical, not strategic, delay 👀 The long-term outlook remains intact. $TSM
