#GateTop4MainstreamCEX

August CEX rankings are out, and Gate is holding steady in the Top 4. BlockBeats data shows ~$40B in spot volume and ~$285B in derivatives volume — 4th among mainstream CEXs globally.
What stands out to me isn’t the ranking itself. It’s the ratio: derivatives volume is more than 7x spot volume. That tells me Gate’s user base is increasingly made up of active traders, not just spot buyers. That’s a different kind of growth — stickier, more fee-generative, and harder to fake.
Can Gate push into the Top 3 next? The gap to #3 is real, but the trend line matters more than the snapshot. If derivatives keep growing at this pace while spot holds steady, the question shifts from “if” to “when.”
But here’s the bigger debate: when you judge a trading platform, what matters most?
· Volume? It gets you on the leaderboard.
· Liquidity? It keeps you there when markets get ugly.
· Product range? It differentiates you when fees are similar.
· Security & compliance? It determines whether you’re still around in five years.
For me, liquidity depth under stress > raw volume. And compliance is becoming inseparable from liquidity — institutional capital won’t flow without it.
