Trade Review: BTCUSDT — The Exit Was My Real Lesson
I entered BTCUSDT Long at $78,369.1 with 44x leverage.
The plan was straightforward: give the trade room to breathe with my SL at $77,300 and let BTC prove whether the move could continue.
The setup worked. Price moved in my favor, and I eventually closed the position around +30% ROI.
Sounds good — but the part I’m actually reviewing is the exit.
My mistake was closing too early.
I took profit because I became too focused on securing the gain instead of following the original trade thesis. And, as often happens, BTC continued higher after I closed.
The screenshot shows the position around $78,789, already at +22.84% ROI, but the move didn’t stop there.
What I got right
Direction: Long
Entry: $78,369.1
Leverage: 44x
Planned SL: $77,300
I respected the risk level instead of moving the SL lower.
What I got wrong
I let impatience decide the exit.
Taking +30% ROI is never a bad result by itself. The mistake was closing because I was nervous about giving back profit, rather than because the market invalidated my setup.
What I learned
A trade can be profitable and still teach you something.
Next time, instead of closing the entire position early, I’d consider taking partial profit and leaving a smaller position running with a structured stop.
BTC was showing strength, and the market had not actually invalidated the long thesis when I exited.
Profit booked. Lesson learned.
The goal isn’t to catch every dollar of a move. It’s to build a process where emotions don’t decide the exit.
