INTC just jumped 9% in one session. The interesting question now isn’t “how high can it go?” — it’s whether buyers can defend the breakout.
Intel closed at $104.47, up 9.05%, with roughly 140M shares traded. That volume matters: this was a genuine participation-driven move, not a thin liquidity spike.
The catalyst mix is also supportive. Reports suggest Intel could raise PC CPU prices by around 10% in October, while its broader AI/semiconductor positioning and ASML High-NA EUV collaboration continue to keep the long-term story relevant.
But after a move from roughly $89 → $104, chasing is risky.
Key levels:
Resistance:
- $106.10–107.60 — immediate decision zone
- $110 — psychological breakout
- $115–118 — next upside zone
- $125 — larger momentum target
Support:
- $100–102 — first breakout/retest area
- $95–96 — key prior breakout region
- $91–92 — deeper structural support
- $88–90 — major short-term structure level
Bull Case
A clean break above $107.60, followed by a successful retest, would strengthen the bullish setup.
Targets: $110 → $115–118 → $125
Bear Case
Failure around $106–108 followed by a loss of $100 would signal that the breakout is losing strength.
Downside levels: $95–96 → $91–92 → $88–90
Trading Plan
I would avoid blindly chasing the current price.
Preferred setup:
Pullback entry: $102–105 after bullish confirmation
OR breakout entry: above $107.60 after confirmation/retest.
For a breakout setup, a move back below roughly $99 would invalidate the short-term thesis.
Risk only 1–2% of capital. Funding/liquidation data isn't relevant to the underlying stock, while options activity around the $105–107 area adds another reason to watch that zone closely.
Final bias: Moderately Bullish — but only while $100 holds.
$107.60 is the level I’m watching most closely. Hold it with volume, and INTC can continue higher. Reject it and lose $100, and the market may force a deeper reset first.
