Right now, BTC is trading around $78.8K, with the short-term structure losing momentum after failing to hold the move above $80K. The market is still liquid, but buyers haven't produced enough follow-through to turn the recent recovery into a clean breakout.
The bigger picture is interesting.
BTC recently pushed toward $82.1K–$82.2K, but sellers stepped in and price rotated lower. That makes the $80K area important now. Until BTC can reclaim it and actually hold above it, I wouldn't treat every bounce as a new bullish leg.
Key levels I'm watching
Support:
$78.1K–$78.7K
$76.3K–$77K
$73K
Resistance:
$79.6K–$80K
$80.5K
$82.1K–$82.2K
$83.5K
$85.3K
The most important short-term level for me is $80.5K.
A clean 1H/4H close above it, followed by a successful retest, would give buyers a much stronger setup. In that case, I would watch $82.2K → $83.5K → $85.3K as the next upside areas.
On the other hand, if BTC loses $78.1K and can't reclaim it, the chart starts opening toward $76.3K–$77K.
A sustained break below $76.3K would be more serious because it would damage the current recovery structure and bring the $73K area into focus.
Derivatives are still worth watching. BTC open interest is around $53B, while futures activity remains much larger than spot volume. That tells me leverage is still playing a major role in price discovery.
So I don't want to chase either direction here.
Trading setup
Long confirmation:
BTC reclaims $80.5K and holds the retest.
Entry: around $80.6K after confirmation
Invalidation: around $79.2K
TP1: $82.2K
TP2: $83.5K
TP3: $85.3K
The setup offers roughly 1R+ to TP1, ~2R to TP2 and 3R+ toward TP3, depending on execution.
For the bearish side, $78.1K is the trigger I would watch first.
Macro is still the wildcard. U.S. inflation data, Treasury yields, oil prices and the upcoming Fed decision can easily change the short-term BTC structure.
My view
Neutral right now.
Above $80.5K, the chart becomes cautiously bullish.
Below $78.1K, the risk shifts toward $76.3K–$77K.
For now, BTC is trapped between support and resistance. I'd rather wait for confirmation than predict the breakout.
