SanDisk has become one of the most explosive semiconductor stories of 2026, and the move to $1,739.88 is not being driven by one headline alone. It is the combination of AI inference, rapidly expanding data-center storage requirements, constrained NAND supply, stronger pricing power and a major change in SanDisk’s business model. The stock has already delivered an extraordinary 2026 rally, but the important question now is whether fundamentals can continue catching up with the valuation.
AI IS CHANGING WHAT “MEMORY DEMAND” MEANS
The biggest structural change is that AI is no longer only a GPU story. As inference workloads expand, enormous amounts of data must be stored, retrieved and processed efficiently. SanDisk estimates that the addressable enterprise data-center flash market could reach 1.2 zettabytes by 2030. The company is also developing High Bandwidth Flash, or HBF, specifically for the changing memory hierarchy created by AI inference and KV-cache requirements.
This is important because NAND traditionally depended heavily on smartphones, PCs and consumer electronics. AI data centers are creating a much larger enterprise storage opportunity with different performance, density and power requirements.
THE SUPPLY SIDE MAY BE EVEN MORE IMPORTANT
Demand alone does not create a supercycle. Demand exceeding available supply does.
The current memory market is experiencing a significant supply-demand imbalance. Recent industry reporting says new semiconductor capacity requires years to build, while AI demand is accelerating immediately. HPE has specifically cited shortages in memory, NAND, CPUs and drives as a constraint on AI infrastructure deployment.
That creates pricing power for established NAND suppliers. SanDisk's FY2026 results demonstrate exactly what this environment can produce: revenue reached $20.25 billion, up 175% year over year, while data-center revenue increased 437%. Fourth-quarter revenue reached $8.97 billion, up 51% sequentially, with approximately two-thirds of that quarterly increase coming from higher pricing.
THE NBM MODEL CHANGES THE CYCLICALITY
This may be the most underrated part of the SNDK thesis.
SanDisk's New Business Model agreements are designed around committed volumes, contractual minimum financial guarantees and structured pricing mechanisms. The company has signed agreements with eight customers, covering approximately 50% of bits in FY2027 and roughly two-thirds of bits in FY2028.
That matters because NAND has historically been highly cyclical. When supply becomes abundant, prices can collapse. NBM contracts potentially give SanDisk greater visibility into demand, capacity planning, revenue and margins before production is even delivered.
In other words, SNDK is attempting to transform part of the NAND business from a purely spot-market commodity model into a more predictable contracted infrastructure business.
THE MARGIN STORY IS MASSIVE
SanDisk's FY2026 non-GAAP gross margin reached 71.6%, compared with 30.3% a year earlier. Fourth-quarter non-GAAP gross margin reached 84.6%. The company also generated $8.7 billion of adjusted free cash flow during FY2026.
And management's long-term framework is even more aggressive: for FY2028–FY2030, SanDisk expects mid-to-high-teens annual revenue growth, approximately 80% non-GAAP gross margins, approximately 75% operating margins and roughly 50% adjusted free-cash-flow margins.
Those numbers explain why investors are willing to assign a much higher valuation to SNDK than a traditional NAND-cycle company might receive.
TECHNICAL SCORECARD AT $1,739.88
The chart is still strongly bullish, but momentum is becoming stretched.
The latest daily technical snapshot shows RSI(14) around 77.2, placing SNDK firmly in overbought territory. Stochastic is around 89.2 and StochRSI around 92.2, while Williams %R is at an extreme overbought reading. CCI remains positive around 103.9, ROC is approximately +12%, and Bull/Bear Power remains strongly positive.
The important counter-signal is MACD. At approximately +54.18, MACD remains bullish, while ADX around 43.4 indicates that the prevailing trend has genuine strength rather than being merely a sideways move. ATR is around 33.6, confirming that daily volatility remains elevated.
So the technical message is not “bullish or bearish.” It is: BULLISH TREND + EXTREME MOMENTUM.
MOVING AVERAGES CONFIRM THE TREND
At $1,739.88, price remains comfortably above the major moving averages. The latest daily figures show approximately MA5 at $1,722, MA10 at $1,664, MA20 at $1,603, MA50 at $1,547, MA100 at $1,555 and MA200 around $1,444. All are producing buy signals.
This alignment is one of the strongest parts of the chart. Even if SNDK pulls back, the trend does not become structurally damaged until the stock starts losing successive moving-average supports.
THE KEY PRICE ZONES
At the current $1,739.88 reference price, the first battle is around $1,720–$1,725. Holding this zone keeps the immediate momentum structure intact.
Below that, $1,660–$1,675 becomes the next major support region, followed by $1,600–$1,630 around the 20-day average. A deeper correction toward $1,545–$1,580 would test the 50-day/100-day moving-average cluster.
On the upside, $1,790–$1,800 is the first major resistance zone. A decisive breakout could open the door toward $1,825–$1,850, while a sustained move above $1,900 would place the stock into another price-discovery phase. Current technical resistance levels also identify approximately $1,793 and $1,846 as important upside reference points.
THE BULL CASE
The bulls have three powerful arguments.
First, AI inference is expanding the amount of storage required per workload.
Second, NAND supply remains constrained, giving suppliers pricing leverage.
Third, NBM contracts potentially make future revenue and margins considerably more predictable than in previous memory cycles.
SanDisk is also targeting 100% of excess cash returned to shareholders after business investment, while its board has expanded the share-repurchase authorization to $15.5 billion remaining.
THE BEAR CASE
But $1,739.88 is not a low-risk entry simply because the fundamentals are strong.
RSI above 77, StochRSI above 92 and extreme Williams %R readings show that the stock has already priced in enormous optimism. A cooling period would therefore be completely normal. If $1,720 fails, the market could quickly test $1,660 and then $1,600.
The bigger fundamental risk is that memory is still cyclical. Competitors can eventually add capacity, Chinese NAND producers are gaining share, and an AI infrastructure slowdown could reduce pricing power. Recent market data also shows increasing competition in NAND, meaning SanDisk's current margins cannot simply be extrapolated forever.
THE REAL 2026 THESIS
SNDK's story is no longer simply “AI needs more storage.”
It is becoming:
AI inference increases storage intensity → data-center NAND demand rises → constrained supply supports pricing → NBM agreements improve visibility → higher margins generate stronger cash flow → buybacks and investment reinforce shareholder returns.
That is a much more powerful thesis than a simple semiconductor momentum trade.
FINAL TECHNICAL VERDICT
At $1,739.88, SNDK remains technically STRONGLY BULLISH, with all major moving averages aligned positively, MACD above zero, ADX showing strong trend strength and price well above long-term support. But the RSI, Stochastic and StochRSI are warning that momentum is overheated.
For bulls, $1,720 is the immediate line to defend, followed by $1,660–$1,675. Above $1,800, the next acceleration zone is roughly $1,825–$1,850, with $1,900 becoming the psychological breakout level.
The key distinction is this: a pullback toward the moving averages would not automatically invalidate the supercycle. A sustained break below the major trend supports, combined with weakening NAND pricing, slowing data-center demand or deterioration in NBM economics, would be far more serious.
SNDK has already proven that storage can become an AI infrastructure trade. Now the market is asking whether SanDisk can turn that demand shock into a durable, high-margin business cycle.@Gate_Square
