#Gate用户突破6000万 18 MONTHS AGO, I STARTED
It has been roughly 18 months since I created my Gate account, and looking back now, I realize my crypto journey did not begin with a perfect strategy, a detailed trading plan, or some grand financial goal. It started much more simply: curiosity, a little hesitation, and a Bitcoin chart that seemed determined to keep moving.
JANUARY 2025: WATCHING FROM THE SIDELINES
It was January 2025. Bitcoin was hovering near the $95,000 mark, and the entire market felt like it was waiting for something bigger. The $100,000 level was everywhere. Traders were discussing it, analysts were watching it, and the fear of missing the next move was becoming harder to ignore. But there was another feeling too the fear of making the wrong decision.
So I watched.
For weeks, I refreshed charts, followed market discussions, and spent time reading posts on Gate Square. I was slowly learning what support, resistance, liquidation and other basic market terms actually meant. At that stage, I was not really a trader. I was more like the person standing outside the stadium trying to understand the rules before entering the game.
THE FIRST CLICK
Then one day, I finally stopped watching and started acting.
I opened my first trade with a small, careful position. Nothing dramatic, nothing heroic. And honestly, my hands were shaking a little. The amount was not what mattered. The important part was that after spending so much time sitting on the fence, I had finally made a decision.
That first trade changed something for me.
I was no longer just watching the crypto market from the outside. I had officially become a participant.
LEARNING THE HARD WAY
After that, I kept going for a while. Every trade became another lesson. Some days went well. Other days reminded me that the market does not care how confident you feel before clicking the button.
Then life got busy.
Work became more demanding, distractions started piling up, and eventually I stepped away from crypto for two or three months. I did not consider it the end of my journey. I simply needed some distance from the constant movement, notifications and noise of the market.
THE MARKET DID NOT WAIT
The funny thing about crypto is that the market does not pause just because you do.
While I was away, Bitcoin continued writing its own story. Spring brought sharp volatility, with BTC dipping toward the $74,000 zone and testing the confidence of even strong-handed holders. Then, when many people had already started questioning the strength of the cycle, Bitcoin turned around and climbed to an all-time high above $126,000 by October 2025.
I watched that part from the sidelines.
One side of me wished I had stayed involved. The other side understood something important: nobody can catch every wave, and missing one move does not mean missing the entire journey.
BACK TO THE PRESENT
Fast forward to today, and Bitcoin is trading around $79,500.
That is a very different environment from the $126,000+ high. There is fear, there is opportunity, and there is plenty of noise competing for everyone's attention. But that is exactly what makes the market interesting. The cycle keeps moving, and eventually another decision always appears.
WHAT 18 MONTHS TAUGHT ME
Looking back at these 18 months, three lessons stand out.
First, time in the market matters more than trying to find perfect timing. Waiting for the “perfect” entry can easily become an excuse for never entering at all.
Second, discipline beats excitement. Markets can move incredibly fast, but surviving those moves requires risk management, patience and the ability to follow a plan instead of reacting emotionally to every candle.
Third, taking a break is not necessarily failure. Stepping away for a while gave me clarity. When I returned, I was looking at the market with a calmer mind instead of feeling like I had to chase every move.
A DIFFERENT VERSION OF ME
Now I have started fresh again, with a different approach and a new trade on the board.
Not because Bitcoin owes me a profit.
Not because I believe the market must move in my direction.
But because I understand my own decision-making better than I did 18 months ago.
The charts are still moving. The candles still create excitement. The market still has the ability to surprise me.
The difference is the mindset I bring to it.
FROM WATCHING TO PARTICIPATING
If there is one thing I would tell someone currently staring at a chart and hesitating, it is this: every experienced trader was once a beginner looking at the same confusing candles.
You do not need to know everything before you begin.
You need to learn, manage risk, accept that some trades will become lessons, and remain consistent enough to improve.
My journey started with hesitation around $95,000 BTC. It continued through a break, a $74,000 dip, a rally above $126,000, and eventually brought me back to a market around $79,500.
I missed some moves. I made mistakes. I learned.
And now I am back — not trying to predict every candle, but trying to make better decisions than I did yesterday.
YOUR TURN
So tell me: when did your crypto journey begin? Was there a specific moment when you finally stopped watching and made your first move? And if you ever stepped away from the market, what brought you back?
