#Gate用户突破6000万 MY FIRST 18 MONTHS WERE NOT ABOUT FINDING A SECRET
When I look back at my first 18 months on Gate, the funniest part is that I entered crypto looking for something complicated when the real answer was much simpler: I needed patience.
At the beginning, every market move looked important. A 2% move felt huge. A sudden wick looked like a signal. A fast-moving altcoin looked like an opportunity that had to be taken immediately.
I eventually learned that the market does not charge you for waiting.
I STARTED BUILDING A TRADING MINDSET
My approach changed when I began separating a market prediction from a trading plan.
Instead of saying, “BTC will go up,” I started thinking: what is the current trend, where is the nearest support, where is resistance, what does volume say, and what level would prove my idea wrong?
That final question became one of the most important.
A prediction without invalidation is just a hope with a chart behind it.
THE SMALL DETAILS STARTED MATTERING
I began watching price action more carefully. Higher highs and higher lows started making sense. Retests became more interesting than random breakouts. Volume became a confirmation tool rather than just another number on the screen.
I also started watching RSI differently.
I used to think an overbought reading meant, “Sell now.”
Then I learned that strong trends can stay overbought for longer than expected.
That was another lesson from crypto: indicators are tools, not instructions.
THE MARKET GAVE ME A FEW FREE HUMBLING LESSONS
There were plenty of moments when I thought I had finally figured something out.
Then I entered a trade.
The market immediately disagreed.
My analysis said one thing.
The candle said another.
And the candle always gets the final vote.
Instead of treating those losses as proof that I could not trade, I started treating them as information. Was my entry late? Did I ignore resistance? Was volume weak? Was the risk too large?
Every mistake became another question to answer.
GATE BECAME MORE THAN A PLACE TO TRADE
What surprised me most was how content creation became part of that learning process.
Writing about the market forced me to organize my thoughts. If I wanted to explain why BTC might break a level, I needed more than excitement. I needed evidence.
If I wanted to discuss an altcoin, I needed to understand its structure.
If I wanted to make a prediction, I needed to explain the risk.
That process made me more disciplined.
Sometimes the best way to discover what you do not know is to try explaining it to someone else.
THE 60 MILLION MILESTONE FEELS PERSONAL
Gate has now surpassed 60 million users worldwide, and that number is enormous.
But I do not see it only as a statistic.
I see millions of people arriving with different goals, different experiences and different levels of knowledge.
One person might be trading futures.
Another might be learning spot trading.
Another might be creating their first Square post.
Someone else might be staring at a candlestick chart for the first time and wondering why it has a personality.
That last person understands the beginner experience perfectly.
18 MONTHS LATER, MY QUESTIONS ARE DIFFERENT
When I started, my biggest question was:
“Will this trade make money?”
Now my questions are different.
Where is the setup?
Where is the invalidation?
What confirms the move?
What happens if the breakout fails?
How much am I willing to risk?
That shift from outcome-focused thinking to process-focused thinking has probably been my biggest improvement.
I cannot control the market.
I can control how I respond to it.
THE FUNNIEST LESSON
I have also learned that the market has perfect timing when it comes to teaching patience.
If I become too confident, volatility appears.
If I chase a candle, resistance appears.
If I think I have found the easiest setup ever, the market suddenly invents a completely new scenario.
At this point, I almost expect it.
Crypto does not need to say “be careful.”
It simply moves 4% in the opposite direction.
Message received.
60 MILLION USERS, BUT EVERYONE STARTS SOMEWHERE
That is why the 60 million milestone makes me think less about the number and more about the journey behind it.
Nobody begins with perfect risk management.
Nobody understands every indicator on day one.
Nobody can predict every market cycle.
The difference comes from whether we keep learning after the first mistake.
My first 18 months have been exactly that: learning, testing, making mistakes, adjusting and trying again.
THE NEXT LEVEL IS DISCIPLINE
I do not want my next chapter to be about taking bigger risks.
I want it to be about making better decisions.
Better entries.
Cleaner setups.
Smaller unnecessary risks.
More patience.
More confirmation.
Less emotion.
That is the kind of progress I now value.
Because a trader does not become better simply by predicting more correctly.
A trader becomes better by managing uncertainty more intelligently.
MY GATE STORY IS STILL OPEN
18 months ago, I entered Gate without knowing how much the experience would change the way I look at markets.
Today, I can look at a chart and see more than green and red candles.
I see structure.
I see liquidity.
I see momentum.
I see levels.
And most importantly, I see possibilities rather than guarantees.
Gate reaching 60 million users is a huge milestone, but for me the most interesting number is still my own starting point: 18 months ago.
I joined as someone trying to understand crypto.
I am still learning today.
The difference is that now, I actually enjoy the process.
And maybe that is the real profit of the journey: not simply what the market gives you, but what the market teaches you along the way. @Gate_Square
