THE CHART THAT CHANGED HOW I THINK
18 months ago, I joined Gate with a very simple idea: I wanted to understand crypto and maybe find a way to earn from it. At that time, I was looking at charts almost like they were written in another language. Green candles looked exciting, red candles looked dangerous, and every sudden move made me wonder whether I had already missed the opportunity.
I had no complicated strategy. I was simply curious.
FROM WATCHING CANDLES TO READING THE MARKET
My first real improvement came when I stopped looking at price alone. Instead of asking, “Is BTC going up or down?” I started asking better questions: Where is the support? Where is the resistance? Is volume confirming the move? Is momentum actually strong, or is the price simply moving because liquidity is thin?
That small change completely shifted my mindset.
I started paying attention to moving averages, RSI, volume and market structure. I learned that one green candle does not automatically mean a bullish trend, just as one red candle does not automatically mean the market is finished. Sometimes the most important information is what happens after the candle.
THE DAY I STOPPED CHASING
One of my biggest beginner mistakes was entering after a move had already happened. I would see a coin moving strongly and think, “If I don't enter now, I will miss everything.”
Then the market would teach me the same lesson again.
Price would reach resistance, momentum would weaken and suddenly my perfect-looking entry became an uncomfortable position. That experience taught me to wait for confirmation instead of chasing excitement.
Now I would rather miss one move than enter five minutes before a reversal.
TRADING BECAME A CLASSROOM
Eventually, trading stopped being only about profit and became another way of learning. A losing trade forced me to examine my entry. A winning trade made me ask why it worked. A failed breakout taught me to respect resistance. A successful retest showed me why support matters.
I began keeping a simple mental checklist before entering: market direction, structure, volume, momentum, invalidation and risk.
It was not complicated.
But compared with my early days, it felt like a completely different trader was sitting behind the screen.
SQUARE GAVE THE JOURNEY ANOTHER DIMENSION
Then I discovered something else: explaining a market can be harder than trading it.
When you write a Square post about BTC, ETH or an altcoin, you cannot simply say, “I think it will pump.” You need a reason. You need levels. You need context. You need to explain what could make the prediction wrong.
That forced me to study deeper.
Posting became research. Research improved my trading. Trading gave me experience to write about. The three started connecting with each other.
60 MILLION USERS, MILLIONS OF DIFFERENT JOURNEYS
Now Gate has passed 60 million users worldwide, and I find that milestone interesting because every user probably has a completely different reason for being here.
Some are traders.
Some are creators.
Some are investors.
Some are learning their first technical indicator.
Some are probably still looking at an RSI chart and thinking, “What exactly is this thing telling me?”
And somewhere inside those 60 million stories is mine.
Not a story of instant success.
A story of gradual improvement.
MY BIGGEST CHANGE WAS NOT A PROFIT
The biggest result of these 18 months is not one particular trade or one particular number.
It is the way I look at the market today.
Before, I wanted the market to tell me what would happen next.
Now, I think in scenarios.
If support holds, what happens?
If resistance breaks, what confirms it?
If volume disappears, does the move still have strength?
If my setup fails, where do I exit?
That difference may sound small, but for me it changed everything.
THE FUNNY THING ABOUT EXPERIENCE
Crypto has a strange way of making you humble.
You can study a chart for an hour, draw five support levels, check momentum, analyze volume and feel completely prepared.
Then the market moves in the opposite direction in about three minutes.
At that moment, the chart basically says:
“Nice analysis. Try again.”
I have learned to laugh at those moments instead of fighting the market.
WHAT 18 MONTHS TAUGHT ME
I learned that technical analysis is not a crystal ball. RSI can stay overbought. Support can break. Resistance can fail. Volume can change suddenly. A perfect setup can still lose.
The purpose of analysis is not to predict every candle.
It is to improve the quality of your decisions.
That is the mindset I wish I had when I first started.
THE NEXT CHAPTER
When I joined Gate 18 months ago, I thought I was simply opening another crypto account.
Today, I see the journey differently.
I learned how to read charts, understand market structure, create content, trade with more discipline and think in probabilities instead of certainty.
And I am still learning.
Gate reaching 60 million users reminds me that a platform can be the same place for millions of people while giving every person a completely different story.
Mine started with curiosity.
Then came the charts.
Then the mistakes.
Then the lessons.
And now, I am still here writing the next chapter.
MY TAKEAWAY
If there is one thing I would tell the version of myself from 18 months ago, it would be simple: do not rush to become a trader. First become a student of the market.
Learn the structure.
Respect the levels.
Watch the volume.
Understand momentum.
Manage the risk.
And never let one trade decide whether you continue.
Because sometimes the biggest breakthrough is not finding the perfect entry.
It is becoming a better decision-maker than you were yesterday.
