Buy and it drops, sell and it rises? So this is the crypto market’s universal script

Was your first trade on Gate the key to wealth—or just an expensive lesson?
If veteran traders were asked to recall their first trade, I imagine the answers would be fascinating.
Some bought BTC, some bought ETH, while others jumped into a coin that is now nearly impossible to find.
The logic at the time may have been just one sentence:
“It’s been pumping pretty hard lately.”
And then they bought in.
The next second, the market started teaching you a lesson.
Up 5%, you think you’re a trader chosen by fate; down 5%, you wonder whether the market has it out for you; down 10%, you start studying the white paper; down 20%, you suddenly start believing in “value investing.”
The most interesting part is that many people eventually go through the same cycle:
Buy—drop—panic—sell—rise—regret—chase the top—drop again.
If you complete this cycle thoroughly enough, you unlock a hidden skill:
Predicting your own emotions with precision, but never predicting the chart.
Jokes aside, these experiences are actually incredibly valuable.
Because real trading experience isn’t something you can gain just by watching tutorials. A lot of the time, you have to personally experience FOMO, panic, missing the move, and selling too early before you gradually understand what position sizing and risk management really mean.
That’s why I’m especially curious about the stories from the Gate community.
