Pasqal, newly listed on Nasdaq as $PSQL, used SEMICON Taiwan to argue that quantum computing can deliver commercial value before full fault tolerance arrives around 2030
“We dare to disagree,” said Roberto Mauro, Pasqal’s chief revenue officer.
The company’s neutral-atom platform supports analog quantum simulation today and is designed to transition toward gate-based, fault-tolerant computing later. Mauro said this means “our customers are buying the best of today and the best of tomorrow in one purchase.”
Pasqal says it has deployed seven QPUs across three continents, sold more than 540 qubits in commercial systems, and delivered a 200-qubit on-premise installation in 2025. Revenue reached €16.5 million in 2025, compared with more than $300 million raised to date
Technically, Pasqal highlighted three recent milestones
First, it created a defect-free 1,024-atom array using a 2,070-trap optical tweezer system, with atom lifetimes exceeding 5,000 seconds
Second, it demonstrated error correction by solving the same differential equation using physical and logical qubits. The logical version tracked the correct solution more closely. Mauro stressed the importance of crossing the error-correction threshold: “There is a crossover point, and very few hardware platforms in the world have demonstrated the ability to cross it.”
Third, Pasqal worked with Los Alamos National Laboratory to simulate the frustrated magnet TmMgGaO4 in regimes where classical methods struggle to converge. According to Mauro, the QPU produced results in hours versus more than four weeks for classical supercomputers.
Pasqal then reproduced the result across five different machines. “A single machine producing a striking number is a result. Five machines producing the same result, that is a technology.”
Taiwan becomes important as Pasqal moves beyond 1,000 qubits. The company believes controlling 10,000 atoms will require moving qubit control onto photonic integrated circuits. Its AEPONYX subsidiary has already trapped individual atoms using light from a PIC
“Photonics manufacturing scales the way semiconductor manufacturing scales,” Mauro said, describing the path to 10,000 physical and 100 logical qubits as “an engineering problem, not a scientific question.”
Pasqal raised €340 million alongside its Nasdaq transaction. Strategic investor Quanta Computer also helps explain the company’s focus on Taiwan’s manufacturing ecosystem
Mauro’s closing message was explicit: “Taiwan, with its semiconductor and photonics ecosystem, is the place that can make this magic happen again for computing.”
