Strategy has resumed Bitcoin purchases after a break of approximately two months. Between August 24th and 30th, the company spent approximately $370 million to acquire 4,603 BTC. The average price of the purchases was $80,318. This move marks the company's first major Bitcoin purchase since the end of June.
Funding Structure and Strategy
The purchase was financed with net proceeds of $602.8 million from the sale of company shares. Of this amount, $151.8 million was allocated to the STR common share buyback, $50.7 million to dividend payments, and approximately $30 million to cash reserves. As a result of this operation, the company's Bitcoin holdings reached 845,050 BTC. The total cost of the purchase was $63.73 billion, with an average cost of $75,412.
A significant change in the company's strategy occurred during the summer months. In mid-June, when Bitcoin prices fell to $58,500, the company sold 6,948 BTC for approximately $432 million. These sales were made at an average price of $62,250. The company returned to a buying position in August when Bitcoin rose by 23% and returned to the $80,000 level.
Saylor commented on this move as "we're back." Following this operation, the company's net leverage ratio dropped to 0%, and total dollar assets reached $6.71 billion. However, the company states that it may take a selling position again if Bitcoin falls below $60,000.
MSTR Stock Performance
Following the news of the buy, MSTR shares gained 4.42%, rising to $132.94. Technical indicators show that the stock is trading above the 200-period exponential moving average at $123.60 and approaching the resistance level at $145.24. The Relative Strength Index is at 66.89, and the MACD indicator continues to signal in the positive zone.
