#GateLaunchesJapaneseStockTrading
Gate has officially opened access to roughly 300 Tokyo Stock Exchange names, including the familiar heavyweights Toyota, Sony, SoftBank and Nintendo. The practical change is simple: you can now buy and sell these stocks directly with USDT. No separate Japanese brokerage account and no yen conversion step required.
That removes a layer of friction that used to keep most crypto-native traders on the sidelines of the Japanese equity market. The first batch already covers the names that usually attract the most international attention, so the initial liquidity and discovery process should be relatively straightforward.
The broader point is accessibility. Global asset allocation becomes more practical when the settlement currency is already the one sitting in the account. Whether the eventual volume justifies the listing will depend on how many users actually treat these names as active trading or longer-term allocation vehicles rather than one-time experiments.
I am treating the launch as a structural positive for product breadth. The ability to move between crypto and major Japanese equities without leaving the platform is useful. The individual charts and the yen’s direction will still decide whether any specific name is timely.
If you could pick only one Japanese stock to start with, which would it be and why? Toyota for the industrial exposure, Sony for the entertainment and sensor mix, SoftBank for the investment portfolio, Nintendo for the consumer franchise, or something less obvious from the 300-name list? Drop your reasoning.
