#StrategyAdds4603BTC Strategy Is Buying Bitcoin Again
4,603 BTC. $369.7 million. Average entry: $80,318.
After roughly a two-month pause, Strategy has returned to Bitcoin accumulation with one of its most closely watched purchases of the summer. Between August 24 and August 30, the company acquired 4,603 BTC for approximately $369.7 million, bringing its total Bitcoin treasury to 845,050 BTC.
The timing makes this purchase especially interesting. Bitcoin had just delivered its strongest monthly performance in a long period, gaining roughly 24% during August, but the latest market price around the $78K–$79K zone remains below Strategy's new $80,318 purchase average. That means the company has effectively bought into a market that is still testing whether the recent recovery can hold.
The scale of Strategy's treasury is now difficult to ignore. Its 845,050 BTC represents more than 4% of Bitcoin's 21 million maximum supply, while the company's cumulative acquisition cost is approximately $63.73 billion, producing a blended average purchase price of about $75,412 per BTC. At prices above $78K, the overall treasury remains meaningfully above its aggregate cost basis.
But there is another side to this purchase that traders should watch closely: how it was financed.
Strategy sold approximately 4.53 million MSTR shares, generating about $602.8 million through its at-the-market program. Of those proceeds, around $369.7 million went toward Bitcoin, while approximately $151.8 million was used to repurchase STRC preferred stock, $50.7 million went toward STRC dividends and roughly $30 million was added to the company's USD Cash account.
So this is not simply a story of “Strategy bought BTC.”
It is a story about Strategy's capital structure continuing to operate as a Bitcoin accumulation machine.
The company had recently focused on strengthening liquidity and had paused purchases for around ten weeks. The return to buying therefore sends a clear strategic signal: management appears comfortable deploying capital into Bitcoin again after the market's August recovery.
The most important technical level now sits directly around Strategy's latest entry.
$80,318 is the new purchase benchmark.
If BTC can reclaim and hold above $80K, Strategy's latest acquisition quickly moves into profit and the psychological $81K–$82K region becomes the next major test. A sustained breakout could reopen the path toward $83K–$85K.
But if BTC remains below $80K and loses the $77K–$78K area, the market could begin questioning whether Strategy bought too aggressively into resistance. That would not invalidate its long-term treasury strategy, but it would create short-term pressure on MSTR because the company's equity is highly sensitive to Bitcoin's price.
There is also a broader macro angle.
Bitcoin's August recovery has been supported by improving liquidity expectations, strong institutional participation and renewed optimism around crypto policy. At the same time, upcoming U.S. economic data and Federal Reserve expectations could increase volatility in September. If yields rise and liquidity expectations deteriorate, BTC could retest lower support even while corporate treasury demand remains strong.
That creates two very different scenarios.
Bullish scenario: BTC holds above $78K, reclaims $80,318, breaks $81K–$82K and moves toward $83K–$85K. Strategy's new purchase becomes profitable and the renewed accumulation narrative strengthens.
Neutral scenario: BTC consolidates between roughly $77K and $81K. Strategy continues building its treasury while traders wait for a decisive breakout.
Bearish scenario: BTC loses $77K and moves toward the $75K area. Strategy's latest purchase temporarily moves underwater, while MSTR faces additional volatility.
My key takeaway is simple:
Strategy did not wait for Bitcoin to return to its previous all-time high. It resumed buying while BTC was still fighting to reclaim the $80K area.
That makes the $80,318 average entry one of the most important numbers to watch alongside BTC's own price structure.
Strategy now holds 845,050 BTC.
The bigger question is no longer whether Strategy believes in Bitcoin.
It is whether Bitcoin can stay above the price level where Strategy just put another $369.7 million to work. @Gate_Square
