#StrategySharesBreak135ForFirstTimeIn12Weeks
THE SQUEEZE IS BACK: STRATEGY RECLAIMS $135 — AND WHY THIS BREAK MATTERS
Strategy is moving again.
Shares of Strategy Inc (MSTR), the Michael Saylor-led Bitcoin treasury company, broke above $135 for the first time in 12 weeks, printing a high of $135.97 after opening at $134. The move ends a brutal three-month consolidation that saw the stock drop as low as $87.
For a stock with a beta of 3.6 to Bitcoin, this is not just a technical break. It's a sentiment shift.
WHY NOW? THREE DRIVERS
1. Bitcoin's reclaim of $81,000
MSTR lives and dies with BTC. Bitcoin's surge back above $81,000 — its first time since May — on the Treasury debasement trade directly repriced Strategy's balance sheet. The company now holds 766,970 BTC at an average price of $75,644. With BTC back above its cost basis by a wide margin, the implied NAV discount is closing fast.
Last close mNAV had fallen to 0.99, meaning enterprise value was trading below the value of its Bitcoin. That washout is now reversing.
2. Buying is back
After breaking its 13-week buying streak in late March, Strategy resumed aggressive accumulation. Recent filings show $330M+ weekly purchases, including seven weeks this year with buys over $1B. The message: Saylor is still buying the dip, and the market is rewarding it. Shares jumped 4.3% on the latest purchase announcement alone.
3. ETF flows confirm institutions are back
US spot Bitcoin ETFs just logged 7 straight days of inflows topping $3B in August. When IBIT inflows return, MSTR follows with leverage. Thursday's 7.3% surge made it the top gainer in the Nasdaq 100 — classic high-beta catch-up.
THE TECHNICAL PICTURE
The break of $135 is critical because:
• It clears the 12-week range top that capped every rally since May
• It reclaims momentum after bears had pierced the 50-week SMA, a level that had held since March 2023
• It puts distance from the 16-month low under $87 seen when Bitcoin sank to $58,000
Next resistance is the $140-$150 supply zone where Barclays' newly initiated $130 target already looks conservative. Support is now $126-$128, the prior close area.
WHY MSTR MOVES HARDER THAN BTC
Strategy is not Bitcoin. It's Bitcoin with leverage and narrative.
When BTC rises 24% in five days, MSTR can rise 30-40% due to its premium/discount to NAV expanding and contracting. When BTC fell to $58,000, MSTR fell over 50% in a month and its preferred STRC slid 26% below par.
This reflexivity is the risk and the opportunity. The break above $135 signals the market is once again willing to pay a premium for Saylor's leveraged Bitcoin exposure, rather than just buying IBIT.
THE SKEPTICS' CASE
Not everyone is cheering.
The company sold 32 BTC for the first time since 2022 recently, raising questions about its "never sell" doctrine. Critics argue MSTR is now more holder than HODLer, using ATM equity raises to fund buys that dilute shareholders.
If Bitcoin fails to hold $80,000 into the September 16 FOMC — where a hawkish Fed is now pricing a 57% chance of a hike — MSTR will fall faster than BTC.
WHAT TO WATCH NEXT
1. Bitcoin $80K hold: No $80K, no $135. It's that simple.
2. mNAV premium: Does it expand back above 1.2x, or stall at 1.0x?
3. Weekly buys: Will Saylor keep printing $300M+ buys every Monday?
4. ETF flows: IBIT inflows are the leading indicator for MSTR.
5. Volatility: With beta above 3.6, expect 7-10% daily swings around Fed headlines.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The return above $135 is more than a number. It's a referendum on the leveraged Bitcoin treasury model.
Three months ago, faith was eroding. Enterprise value fell below Bitcoin holdings. Sentiment was at rock bottom.
Now, with Bitcoin back above $81,000 on debasement fears and Treasury buybacks, that faith is being restored.
But Strategy remains the ultimate high-beta bet on one idea: that Bitcoin will outrun fiat debasement faster than dilution and debt costs catch up.
The break of $135 says bulls are willing to make that bet again.
The next test is whether they hold it through September.
Stay informed. Stay disciplined. And never confuse leverage with conviction — MSTR amplifies both directions.
