#StrategySharesBreak135ForFirstTimeIn12Weeks
MSTR just showed why its chart can move much faster than the Bitcoin market itself.
The important part of this move was not simply the jump toward $136. After spending roughly twelve weeks below the $135 area, Strategy finally pushed into that resistance zone and briefly traded as high as $135.97. The rejection that followed is equally important, because it shows that sellers are still defending the breakout area.
At the latest level around $127.29, the chart is sitting between two very different signals. Momentum has improved significantly, but price has not yet proven that $134–$135 has turned from resistance into reliable support.
The technical map is fairly clear. The 50-period EMA around $110.06 is the first major trend reference, while $106.46 near the Bollinger middle band adds another layer of support. Below that, the $89–$79 region becomes the deeper downside zone. On the upside, $134–$136 is the immediate battle area, while the 200-period EMA near $156.68 represents a much larger test if buyers manage to establish a sustained breakout.
Momentum is still constructive rather than broken. RSI around 63 suggests buyers remain in control without the indicator being deeply stretched, while the positive MACD structure shows that the broader impulse has not completely disappeared. The cooling histogram, however, fits with what we are seeing in price: the first breakout burst has lost some energy.
There is also a fundamental reason MSTR remains unusually sensitive to Bitcoin. Strategy reported 840,447 BTC held as of August 23, and its latest investor briefing puts the BTC reserve at roughly $64.7 billion at the stated snapshot. Recent Bitcoin strength also pushed the company's massive BTC position back into unrealized profit territory.
That creates an important distinction: a stronger Bitcoin market can provide a powerful backdrop for MSTR, but it does not automatically validate every breakout on the stock chart. MSTR also carries financing, preferred-stock and dilution considerations, so the equity can behave very differently from simply holding BTC. Strategy itself describes MSTR as a highly volatile residual claim on its Bitcoin exposure and capital-markets platform.
For me, $134–$136 is still the decision zone. A sustained move above that area would make the recent rejection look more like a successful breakout retest. Losing the $110 region would tell a completely different story and would put the lower support structure back into focus.
The setup is interesting precisely because the breakout is not finished yet. Price has made the first move; now the market has to decide whether $135 becomes a new floor or remains the ceiling.
