The Jackson Hole speech from Fed Chair Warsh is the last major policy signal before the September FOMC and the market is still digesting every word. After previous communication missteps the bar was simple: deliver clearer guidance on the path of inflation and rates or leave the same uncertainty that has kept front-end yields and equity multiples in a tight range.
A speech that leaned toward patience and data-dependence would have supported the existing bid in risk assets and kept rate-cut expectations alive. A more cautious or hawkish tone would have forced an immediate re-pricing of the dollar, real yields, and high-duration names. The actual reaction in the hours after the remarks will matter more than any single prepared sentence.
I am watching three things closely. First, how the dollar responds once the full text is absorbed. Second, whether the front end of the yield curve shifts in a way that changes financial conditions. Third, whether equity leadership stays with the same growth names or begins to rotate. Clarity in either direction is preferable to another round of carefully hedged language.
