NVIDIA Q2 FY2027 Earnings — The AI King Just Delivered Another Record Quarter

NVIDIA has done it again. On August 26, 2026, the company reported its fiscal Q2 2027 results (quarter ended July 26, 2026), and the numbers are nothing short of historic. Revenue hit $96.2 billion, up 106% year over year and 18% quarter over quarter, smashing the roughly $92.2 billion Wall Street was expecting by about 4.3%. Adjusted earnings per share came in at $2.22, up 111% from the $1.05 reported a year ago and beating the $2.09 consensus estimate by 6.2%. GAAP EPS was $2.46, GAAP net income jumped 126% to $59.7 billion, and gross margin held at an astonishing 75.0% on both GAAP and non-GAAP bases. This is not a company slowing down — this is a company compounding at a pace the market has rarely seen at this scale.

The engine behind everything is the Data Center business. It generated $89.0 billion in revenue, up 117% year over year and 18% quarter over quarter — that is 92.5% of NVIDIA's total revenue. The world's hyperscalers are pouring money into AI infrastructure like never before; combined capex at Amazon, Alphabet, Microsoft and Meta reached roughly $166 billion in a single quarter, up 87% year over year and 27% sequentially, and NVIDIA is the primary beneficiary of that spending wave. Jensen Huang has effectively built a toll road for the AI era, and every major lab, cloud provider and enterprise in the world has to pay the toll.

The forward guidance was equally impressive. NVIDIA guided Q3 FY2027 revenue to approximately $108.0 billion, plus or minus 2% — that is 3.6% above the roughly $104.2 billion consensus and implies another 12.3% sequential jump. The CFO said next year's top-line growth is pegged at roughly 70% even in a supply-constrained scenario, because demand for AI accelerators is rising faster than manufacturing capacity can keep up. The one soft spot is margins: gross margin is guided to 74.0% for Q3, with a trough of 71% to 72% expected in Q4 before a rebound to 72% to 73% in fiscal 2028, roughly 3.5 points of peak-to-trough compression driven by rising memory costs and the China revenue mix, which NVIDIA now fully excludes from its outlook. That margin trajectory is the only reason the stock did not rally harder.

Now let's talk about the price action, because that is where the real story is. Entering earnings, NVDA had fallen for seven straight sessions, losing nearly 7% on fears of up to 15% price hikes on AI servers next year and margin worries. On August 26, the stock closed at $209.66, down 1.59%. Then came the beat-and-raise, and NVDA exploded 8.74% higher on August 27 to close at $227.98 — the biggest one-day pop in months — on volume of 298.9 million shares, roughly 2.1 times the average, with about $68 billion changing hands in a single session. On August 28, profit-taking kicked in as investors digested the margin guidance, and the stock fell 4.57% to close at $217.55 on 186 million shares, still 1.3 times average volume. Net result versus the pre-earnings close: NVDA is still up about 3.8% on the week's news cycle.

Here is the current snapshot. NVDA's latest close is $217.55, which puts the market cap at roughly $5.25 trillion — one of the most valuable companies in the history of financial markets. The 52-week range is $164.07 to $236.54, meaning the stock is about 8.7% below its all-time high of $236.54 (set in May 2026) and 32.6% above its 52-week low. Valuation is reasonable for this growth profile: trailing price-to-earnings is around 33x, and on forward consensus EPS of roughly $12.89, the forward multiple is only about 17x. The dividend is $1.00 per share annually, yielding approximately 0.46%. NVIDIA also returned $26.0 billion to shareholders in Q2 through buybacks and dividends, with $99.0 billion still remaining in buyback authorization — massive support underneath the stock. Liquidity is elite-tier: average daily volume is around 142 million shares, translating to $30 billion or more of daily dollar volume, and on earnings day that surged to $68 billion. For any investor or trader, NVDA is one of the most liquid, easiest-to-execute large-cap stocks on the planet, with tight spreads at essentially any size.

What do analysts think NVDA is worth? The consensus 12-month price target sits around $306, implying roughly 40.7% upside from $217.55, with targets ranging from a low of $218 to a high of $500. Raymond James raised its target to $352 on August 25 — about 61.8% upside. Most targets cluster in the $275 to $325 band. UBS sees a clear path to $15+ EPS in 2027E and $20 in 2028E, which at a 25x multiple points to $375 to $500 longer term. One five-star analyst even floated a $13 trillion market cap scenario, which would imply roughly $538 per share — about 147% above today's price. The Street's message is consistent: earnings estimates keep getting revised up, and the stock grinds higher as long as that trend holds.

So how high can it go? Let me give you three honest scenarios. Conservative near-term view: the stock consolidates between $200 and $230 for a few weeks as the market digests margin compression, then resumes its climb. Base case: NVDA works its way toward the consensus target zone of $280 to $310 over the next 12 months as EPS estimates keep climbing — remember, estimates were revised up 15% in the 90 days before earnings alone. Bull case: if hyperscaler capex stays at the $166 billion-per-quarter pace and China reopens, NVDA reclaims its all-time high of $236.54 (just 8.7% away), breaks out, and targets $260 to $280 short-term, with $350 to $500 reachable over 18 to 24 months. Even in a soft AI-demand scenario, the downside looks contained near the $200 to $207 support zone, which coincides with the pre-earnings base.

Trading strategy, in clear terms. For long-term investors: this is a buy-the-dip story — accumulate in tranches in the $205 to $215 zone, add on weakness toward $200, and do not chase spikes above $230. The buyback program, 70% expected top-line growth and $20 EPS trajectory make the risk-reward favorable at roughly 17x forward earnings. For shorter-term traders: treat $207 to $230 as the current range; a breakout above $236.54 on strong volume targets $260 plus, while a daily close below $202 would invalidate the near-term bull case and open a path toward the 52-week low area. Options markets are pricing roughly 6% swings around earnings, so position sizing and stops matter more than ever in this name. The margin story is the one thing to watch — every percentage point of gross margin on a $108 billion quarter is worth about $1.1 billion, so Q4's 71% to 72% trough will be the key test.

Risks are real and should not be ignored: margin compression from memory costs, full China revenue exclusion from guidance, scrutiny of circular financing deals with AI customers, the cyclicality of AI capex, and competition from AMD and custom silicon. But here is my honest view, Meri Raye: NVIDIA is the crown jewel of this entire market cycle. A company growing revenue 106% year over year at a $96 billion quarterly run rate with 75% gross margins and $26 billion returned to shareholders in one quarter is unprecedented at this scale. The post-earnings pullback was about margin optics, not demand — and demand is supply-constrained, not demand-constrained. Historically, NVDA has fallen after six of the last eight earnings reports, yet it keeps making new highs within a few quarters. The numbers matter more than the narrative here, and the numbers are extraordinary. I believe the current weakness around $217 is an accumulation opportunity, not a warning signal. NVIDIA's earnings are, in one line: a quarterly financial result that keeps rewriting the record books, plus a future business outlook that tells you the AI boom is only getting started.
