MRVL Full Analysis: Can the AI Chip Rally Continue?

Current Price: $220.60

Earnings Beat Expectations

Marvell delivered a powerful Q2 FY2027 report with revenue of $2.74 billion which is up roughly 36% year over year from $2.01 billion. Adjusted EPS reached $0.94 compared with expectations near $0.92 to $0.93. That means EPS beat expectations by roughly 1% to 2% while growing more than 40% from $0.67 a year ago. Data center revenue reached $2.17 billion which is up 46% year over year and represents nearly 79% of total revenue. Q3 guidance is even stronger with expected revenue around $3.15 billion versus estimates near $3.03 billion to $3.04 billion. That is approximately 3.6% to 4% above expectations. Expected adjusted EPS of $1.10 also remains above market expectations. This is not a weak earnings report. The company is showing strong growth while continuing to raise expectations.

Why MRVL Is Pulling Back After Strong Results

MRVL had already moved aggressively before earnings. The stock gained around 12.5% in four weeks and nearly 29.6% in roughly 22 trading days. On August 19 the stock jumped approximately 9.85% in one session following the Google announcement. From a price perspective this means investors had already priced in a large portion of the bullish story before the earnings release. After such a strong run even excellent earnings can trigger profit taking. From $220.60 a 5% pullback would take MRVL toward approximately $209.57 while a 10% correction would bring it near $198.54. A 15% correction would put the stock around $187.51. These moves would look large but would still be normal for a high beta semiconductor stock. The important point is that a pullback does not automatically mean the AI growth story is broken.

Google's $12.2 Billion Deal Is The Biggest Catalyst

The Google relationship is arguably the most important reason investors remain bullish. Google received warrants connected to up to 58.97 million Marvell shares with an estimated value around $12.2 billion at the agreed strike price. Potential cumulative revenue from the relationship has been estimated at up to $120 billion through fiscal 2033. If that opportunity develops as expected it could transform Marvell's long term revenue profile. At the current $220.60 price the market is already assigning a premium valuation to future AI growth. But if Google's custom AI chip demand continues expanding then revenue and earnings could grow fast enough to justify a higher valuation. This is why the Google deal is more important than one quarterly earnings beat. It potentially creates a multi year AI growth cycle.

AI Data Center Growth Is The Real Engine

The strongest number in the report is the 46% year over year growth in data center revenue. Revenue of $2.17 billion means approximately 79% of Marvell's total quarterly revenue is now coming from this segment. If data center revenue continues growing around 40% annually then the business could expand dramatically over the next several years. FY2026 revenue was approximately $8.19 billion which was up around 42% year over year. Management's longer term ambition is around $15 billion of revenue by FY2028. Moving from $8.19 billion to $15 billion would represent approximately 83% total growth. If achieved over two years that would require a very strong annual growth rate. This is the fundamental reason the market is willing to give MRVL a much higher valuation than traditional semiconductor companies.

Price Targets Show More Upside

At $220.60 the consensus targets still suggest meaningful upside. A $254 target would represent approximately 15.1% upside. A $260 target would mean approximately 17.8% upside. A $264 target would represent around 19.7% upside. A $273 target would provide approximately 23.7% upside while a $288 target would mean roughly 30.6% upside. If MRVL reaches $300 then the gain from $220.60 would be approximately 36%. More aggressive targets around $340 would represent roughly 54% upside. A $350 target would mean approximately 58.7% upside and $365 would represent around 65.5% upside. Even $385 would represent nearly 74.5% upside. These targets are forecasts rather than guarantees but they demonstrate how large the potential upside could become if AI revenue continues accelerating.

Technical Levels Traders Should Watch

At $220.60 MRVL is sitting near an important decision area. The first upside confirmation zone is $235 to $240. From $220.60 to $235 the upside is approximately 6.5% while $240 represents roughly 8.8% upside. If MRVL reaches $250 the gain would be around 13.3%. The next major resistance is near $267.25 which represents approximately 21.2% upside from the current price. A clean breakout above $267.25 with strong volume could shift momentum toward $288 to $300. That would represent approximately 30.6% to 36% upside. On the downside $220 is the first psychological support. $210 would be around 4.8% below the current price. $205 represents a decline of roughly 7.1%. $195 would be around 11.6% lower and $165 would represent approximately 25.2% downside. These levels can help traders separate a normal correction from a deeper trend breakdown.

Trading Strategy For The Next Move

For existing holders the strategy should focus on protecting gains while allowing the bullish trend to continue. If MRVL holds around $220 and reclaims $235 to $240 then momentum could strengthen again. A move from $220.60 to $267.25 would provide approximately 21% upside. A breakout above $267 could create a new momentum phase toward $288 and potentially $300. For new entries I would avoid chasing a sudden breakout after a strong earnings move. A pullback toward $215 to $220 could offer a better risk to reward setup. Buying near $220 and targeting $240 would offer around 9% upside. A move toward $267 would offer approximately 21% upside. A move toward $300 would offer around 36% upside. However if MRVL loses $205 with heavy volume then the setup becomes weaker and traders should reassess risk instead of blindly averaging down.

Bull Case And Risk Case

The bull case is strong. Revenue is growing around 36% year over year. Data center revenue is growing around 46%. FY2026 revenue grew approximately 42%. Q3 guidance is around 3.6% to 4% above current expectations. Google's custom AI opportunity could create a multi year revenue catalyst. If AI infrastructure spending remains strong and Marvell approaches its $15 billion FY2028 revenue ambition then $288 to $300 becomes increasingly realistic. A stronger earnings cycle could potentially push the stock toward $340 or even $365 over the longer term. From $220.60 those levels represent approximately 54% to 66% upside.

But the risks cannot be ignored. MRVL is trading at a premium valuation with forward P/E estimates around 58 times. If growth slows from 40% toward 20% the market could quickly reduce the valuation multiple. A 20% decline from $220.60 would take the stock toward $176.48 while a 30% decline would take it near $154.42. With beta around 1.72 the stock can move significantly faster than the broader market. Competition from NVIDIA Broadcom and other custom AI chip companies is another major risk. Customer concentration also matters because a change in spending from a major hyperscaler could have a meaningful impact on future revenue.

Final View

MRVL remains one of the strongest AI semiconductor growth stories but the stock now needs confirmation rather than hype. At $220.60 the immediate battle is around $220. Holding this level keeps the recovery structure alive. Reclaiming $235 to $240 would strengthen the bullish setup. Breaking $267.25 could open the door toward $288 to $300. A move to $300 would represent approximately 36% upside from the current price while $350 would represent nearly 59% upside.

My preferred strategy is patience. Do not chase every green candle. Watch $220 for support and $235 to $240 for confirmation. If momentum returns above $267 then the probability of a move toward $288 to $300 increases significantly. If $205 breaks decisively then downside risk becomes much higher.

The bigger story remains AI. With data center revenue growing 46% and Google's custom AI opportunity potentially creating billions of dollars in future revenue MRVL has a strong fundamental foundation. The next major move will depend on whether earnings growth continues to justify the premium valuation.
