#StrategySharesBreak135ForFirstTimeIn12Weeks
Strategy (NASDAQ: MSTR) Breaks $135 for the First Time in 12 Weeks — What Could Come Next?
For nearly three months, Strategy (NASDAQ: MSTR) faced strong selling pressure around the $135 area. Several previous attempts to move above this level failed, but this week the stock finally moved through the zone and closed above it. This is an important technical development because a long-standing resistance level can become a new support area when buyers successfully maintain price above it.
The latest price action has been strong. Strategy is trading around $137.40 after gaining approximately 11.5% from the previous close near $123.19. The stock opened around $126.70, traded as low as approximately $124.46 and reached nearly $139.78 during the session. The wide intraday range shows strong buying interest and elevated volatility. More importantly, price has remained above the $135 breakout area, which is an important condition for confirming that the move is holding.
Looking at the bigger picture, MSTR has a very wide 52-week trading range of approximately $81.81 to $365.21. At around $137, the stock has recovered significantly from its yearly low but remains well below its previous peak. This means the current move can still be viewed as part of a broader recovery rather than the completion of a long-term uptrend.
One of the strongest elements of the breakout is trading volume. Approximately 43.9 million shares traded during the move, compared with an average daily volume of around 23.2 million shares. Higher volume during a resistance breakout generally provides stronger confirmation because it shows increased participation from market participants. If volume remains elevated during future moves above resistance, it could further strengthen the technical setup.
The main fundamental driver behind Strategy remains Bitcoin. Strategy has built a large Bitcoin treasury and therefore its stock price is highly sensitive to changes in BTC. The company holds approximately 840,447 Bitcoin, acquired at an average cost near $75,385 per BTC. As Bitcoin recovered from the lower levels seen earlier this year and moved back toward $80,000, the value of Strategy's Bitcoin holdings improved significantly.
This relationship is extremely important for MSTR investors. When Bitcoin rises strongly, Strategy can benefit from the increase in the value of its Bitcoin holdings and from stronger market demand for Bitcoin-related equities. At the same time, when Bitcoin declines sharply, MSTR can experience larger percentage moves because the stock historically shows much higher volatility than BTC.
The recent Bitcoin recovery has therefore created a favorable environment for Strategy.
Bitcoin's move from the $58K–$63K area toward $80K has significantly changed market sentiment. Institutional participation, ETF flows, liquidity expectations and improving risk appetite have all contributed to the stronger crypto market environment.
There is also a company-specific factor to consider. Strategy has continued to use different financing methods to support its corporate strategy and Bitcoin-related activities. The company recently raised approximately $2 billion through equity financing and has maintained substantial liquidity. Additional capital provides flexibility for future Bitcoin purchases, share repurchases and other corporate obligations.
However, investors should also understand the other side of this strategy. Equity issuance can increase the number of shares outstanding and create dilution for existing shareholders. Debt and preferred-stock obligations also need to be considered when evaluating the company's overall financial position. These factors can influence MSTR's valuation even when Bitcoin is performing well.
Now the key question is where MSTR could go from here.
The first important level above the current price is around $140. A sustained move above $140 with healthy volume would provide additional confirmation that buyers remain in control. After that, $160 becomes the next major technical area to watch.
If MSTR successfully moves through $160, attention could shift toward the $175–$186 region. These levels are also close to several published analyst targets, although analyst estimates should always be treated as projections rather than guarantees.
A stronger Bitcoin market could eventually bring the $200 area into focus. If BTC continues toward $85K–$90K while institutional demand remains strong, MSTR could potentially benefit from another significant expansion in market momentum. Longer-term targets should be viewed as scenarios rather than fixed expectations because MSTR's valuation can change quickly with Bitcoin's price and overall market sentiment.
For traders already holding MSTR, the $135 level is now particularly important. If the stock continues closing above $135, the previous resistance could gradually become support. A successful retest of $135–$138 followed by renewed buying would provide stronger technical confirmation.
For new buyers, chasing an 11%+ daily move carries additional short-term risk. A more disciplined approach would be to wait for a controlled pullback toward the $135–$138 area and observe whether buyers defend that zone.
Another option is to scale into a position rather than entering the entire position after a large single-day move.
Risk management remains essential. An aggressive trader may monitor the $135 area closely, while a wider risk level around $123–$125 would allow more room for normal MSTR volatility. These are not guaranteed support levels, and every trader should choose risk parameters according to their own strategy and tolerance.
The bearish scenario should also be respected.
If MSTR falls back below $135 and remains there, the breakout could lose momentum. The next important area would then be around $123–$125. A sustained move below $115 would significantly weaken the current technical structure and suggest that the recent breakout needs to be reassessed.
Bitcoin remains the most important external factor. If BTC maintains strength above $80K and continues toward $85K–$90K, the probability of further upside in MSTR increases. If Bitcoin experiences a sharp correction, MSTR could react more strongly because of its higher volatility and close relationship with BTC.
Another important factor is Strategy's future Bitcoin activity. If the company continues increasing its Bitcoin holdings, this could support the broader Bitcoin accumulation narrative. If the company instead prioritizes liquidity or sells part of its holdings, investors may interpret the situation differently. Therefore, future company announcements and official filings will remain important.
The broader analyst outlook is constructive, with several firms maintaining price targets above the current market price. However, the wide range of analyst estimates highlights how difficult MSTR is to value. Because the stock is closely linked to Bitcoin, changes in BTC price, market liquidity, financing conditions and investor sentiment can all produce large changes in expectations.
The bottom line is simple: MSTR breaking and holding above $135 after approximately 12 weeks is an important technical development.
Strong trading volume makes the move more interesting, while Bitcoin's recovery provides the fundamental backdrop supporting the stock.
The key levels are now clear. $135 is the major support to watch. $140 is the immediate confirmation area. Above that, $160 becomes the next important target, followed by $175–$186. If Bitcoin remains strong and market conditions stay supportive, the $200 area could eventually become a longer-term objective.
But the breakout still needs confirmation. The most constructive setup would be MSTR holding above $135, successfully retesting the area and then moving higher with healthy volume.
For now, buyers have gained control of the $135 level.
The next question is whether they can turn that former resistance into lasting support and push MSTR toward $160 and beyond.
Impact on Bitcoin:
Strategy's large Bitcoin treasury means its stock performance remains closely connected to BTC. Continued Bitcoin accumulation by the company could provide additional demand and strengthen the broader institutional Bitcoin narrative, while any change in its treasury strategy could influence market sentiment.
