#StrategySharesBreak135ForFirstTimeIn12Weeks
🔥 Strategy Breaks $135 After 12 Weeks Is MSTR Finally Turning the Corner?
Strategy has just delivered one of its most important technical signals in weeks. On August 27, MSTR surged about 12% to roughly $137.95 as Bitcoin climbed above $80,000, marking the first decisive move above the $135 area in approximately 12 weeks. The significance is not simply that Strategy gained double digits in one session. The bigger story is that MSTR is beginning to regain momentum after a prolonged period in which the stock dramatically underperformed the broader Bitcoin narrative. The question now is whether $135 becomes a new support level or whether this move turns into another short-lived relief rally.
The first thing to understand is the relationship between MSTR and Bitcoin. Strategy is effectively a high-beta Bitcoin treasury vehicle, so when BTC moves sharply, MSTR can amplify that move in either direction. On August 27, Bitcoin was trading around $80,367 while Strategy reached $137.95, meaning MSTR gained roughly four times Bitcoin's daily percentage move. That kind of relative strength is exactly why traders are watching the stock again. If Bitcoin can maintain the $80,000 area and continue toward higher resistance, MSTR could potentially receive another momentum boost. But the same leverage works in reverse if BTC loses its recent breakout.
The $135 level is therefore the first major technical reference. For weeks, this area represented a ceiling that buyers could not convincingly reclaim. Breaking above it changes the short-term structure, but one intraday move is not enough to confirm a lasting trend reversal. What matters next is whether MSTR can consolidate above $135 instead of immediately falling back underneath it. If $135 turns into support, the market could begin targeting the $140–$145 region, followed by the psychological $150 level. A sustained move through $150 would be considerably more significant because it would demonstrate that buyers are willing to defend higher valuations rather than simply cover positions during a Bitcoin rally.
The bullish argument is supported by Strategy's enormous Bitcoin exposure. The company reported 846,000 BTC holdings at the end of Q2, although later August updates showed holdings at 840,447 BTC after subsequent transactions. At Bitcoin prices around $80,000, that represents a BTC treasury worth roughly $67 billion. This creates an enormous sensitivity to BTC price movements: every sustained move higher in Bitcoin can materially increase the value of Strategy's underlying digital-asset treasury. The company's Q2 update also showed an 18% reduction in convertible debt to $6.7 billion and a 12% increase in its USD reserve to $2.4 billion, giving the balance sheet more flexibility than during earlier periods of stress.
But this is where the story becomes more complicated. MSTR is not simply Bitcoin multiplied by a fixed factor. Its valuation is also influenced by capital raising, preferred securities, debt obligations, dilution, cash reserves and the premium or discount investors are willing to assign to its Bitcoin exposure. Strategy recently established a broader capital framework designed to strengthen liquidity and support its digital-credit structure, while a separate USD cash pool of roughly $1.6 billion was earmarked for treasury operations and potential buybacks. These measures provide additional financial flexibility, but they also remind investors that MSTR's performance depends on capital-market conditions as much as Bitcoin itself.
There is another important development behind the recent rebound: Strategy had paused Bitcoin purchases for several weeks while maintaining its holdings around 840,447 BTC. That pause means the recent MSTR rally has been driven primarily by the market repricing the existing Bitcoin treasury and the broader recovery in BTC, rather than simply by a fresh wave of corporate Bitcoin accumulation. This distinction matters. If Strategy resumes meaningful BTC purchases while Bitcoin remains strong, it could provide another catalyst. If the company continues to prioritize liquidity and capital management, the stock may become increasingly sensitive to the BTC price itself.
From a technical perspective, the structure is improving but still requires confirmation. The first test is $135. Holding above this level would turn the previous resistance into potential support. The next resistance zone is around $140–$145, followed by $150. A clean break above $150 with strong volume could open the door toward the $160 area and potentially higher levels if Bitcoin continues its recovery. On the other hand, a failure to hold $135 would weaken the breakout and could send MSTR back toward the $125–$130 region. A deeper loss of $120 would suggest that the recent move was more of a momentum spike than a structural reversal.
The biggest variable remains Bitcoin. BTC has recently recovered toward the $80,000 area, and renewed spot ETF demand has helped strengthen the broader crypto risk environment. That creates a favorable backdrop for Strategy, but traders should remember that MSTR historically moves with greater volatility than BTC. If Bitcoin breaks higher, MSTR can outperform rapidly. If Bitcoin reverses sharply, the downside can also accelerate.
My view is that the $135 breakout is meaningful, but confirmation matters more than the headline. Strategy has moved from a long period of weakness into a zone where buyers are finally demonstrating control. The next few sessions should tell us whether institutional and momentum demand can absorb profit-taking around $140–$150. If $135 holds, the recovery structure becomes much more convincing. If it fails quickly, the market may simply have witnessed a high-beta reaction to Bitcoin's latest rally.
The setup is therefore straightforward: $135 is the key level to defend, $140–$145 is the immediate resistance zone, $150 is the psychological breakout level, and $120–$125 becomes an important downside reference if momentum fades. The real opportunity is not predicting one candle; it is watching whether MSTR can transform a 12-week resistance break into a sustained trend.
Strategy breaking above $135 is important because it reconnects the stock with the Bitcoin momentum story. But the market has seen powerful MSTR rallies and reversals before. This time, the confirmation will come from three things working together: Bitcoin staying above the $80,000 area, MSTR holding $135, and trading volume remaining strong enough to support the breakout. If those conditions persist, the first move above $135 could prove to be more than a short-term bounce. @Gate_Square
