#英伟达财报周 NVIDIA's Market Cap Soared by $430 Billion Overnight! How Much Further Can the US Stock Bull Market Go?
On August 27 US time, US stocks launched a powerful rally. Driven entirely by NVIDIA's explosive second-quarter earnings report, the technology and semiconductor sectors added hundreds of billions in market value in a single day, the Nasdaq surged, and the S&P 500 also reached the doorstep of a new all-time high. The Federal Reserve chair will speak at the global central bank annual meeting on Friday. If the remarks send a dovish signal, US stocks will likely rally again.
1 Broad-Based Market Gains
All three major indexes closed higher today. The S&P 500 rose 0.72% to 7730 points, just 70 points shy of the 7800 all-time high. The Nasdaq rose 1.57% to 26540 points. AI chip, crypto-related, and enterprise software stocks all exploded higher, while intraday volatility also increased significantly. The Dow Jones rose just 0.2%, lagging behind. Financials and utilities took a breather and weighed on the market. Fortunately, heavyweight names such as Microsoft and Apple held firm, keeping the indexes relatively stable overall.
2 NVIDIA's Earnings Report Was Explosive
NVIDIA was the core of this rally. Second-quarter revenue came in at $96.2 billion, up 106% year over year and well above the market expectation of $92 billion. Data center revenue reached $89 billion, up 117% year over year. Even more impressive, third-quarter guidance came in at $108 billion, once again exceeding everyone's expectations. After the earnings report was released, NVIDIA surged 8.7% in a single day, adding $430 billion to its market cap and bringing its total market cap to $5.52 trillion. Wall Street institutions have set an average 2026 target price of $302‑305, while some more aggressive estimates see $500. Honestly, I think $500 is a bit too exaggerated. Under a neutral estimate, NVIDIA could reach a market cap of $6-7 trillion within the year, leaving 30%‑40% upside. One reminder here: once earnings are released, don't keep betting on the market move. If you want to position ahead of an earnings report, try to do so a week in advance rather than rushing in at the moment it is announced.
3 Key Stocks to Watch
Besides NVIDIA, there are several other stocks worth keeping a close eye on.
Broadcom surged 4.54% today, with its share price climbing above $371, compared with less than $350 previously. It is set to release its earnings report on September 2, and expectations are unlikely to be disappointed. There is still an opportunity.
Microsoft broke above $500, rising 1.75%, with a very steady trend.
Tesla rose 2.6%, and the biggest focus going forward will be Robotaxi.
Apple is also nearing its event window, with a new product launch scheduled for early September. Its current share price is not particularly high, so the event-driven move is worth watching more closely. In short, Broadcom, Microsoft, and Tesla are the three names to focus on going forward.$NVDA
